So I was thinking of adding some Spawn to my list but don't really want to buy the official pack of 2 (low funds). I was looking at some bits I have and thought I could possibly make some up myself. I have all legs and arm bits from Possessed so possibly use those. Just gotta figure out bodies and heads (might use heads from possessed as well)

Anyone else have any conversion ideas or have done this before. I may scour eBay for some bits as well.

I bought a couple of the rat ogres that are in the WHFB starter set off of ebay and used spare bits from the spawn set to convert them. I got 2 rat ogres for about a tenner.

They are almost exactly the same size and I think they work really well.

A very quick google yielded some awesome inspiring images. When you say conversions, what are your limits?

No money?
upto..... £10?
Green stuff available?

Personally you could go for anything, as imo a spawn really is the most randomest thing you could probably sculpt/convert due to its ability to look like anything.
You could....
  • Build a centipede style spawn by joining torsos you have spare, with possessed arms as its legs or any tyranid parts lying about.
  • You could use cut up sprue to form the bulk of the body and base shape, with GS/putty to sculpt the body piece.

  • Have a look here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/360092.page
Its pretty much exactly what your looking for, this dude made 39 (or intended to!). Hes use a huge variety and im pretty sure every spawn is different. He uses combinations of GS, sprues cut up, kit bashing and sculpting from scratch ( or near enough).

What I've done for mine is I've got a box of WHFB Dire Wolves from Vampire Counts. Put them on round bases and gone crazy with the Green Stuff for tentacles and metal plates nailed to their sides where you can transfer their mark onto them. When I get some pictures up of them painted I'll link them in.
