If so, how is it? I've seen a few forum posts on SR specific boards but figured I'd ask here. I'm considering preordering this as SR has always been a guilty pleasure of mine (like Heavy Gear) that doesn't seem to resonate unfortunately with people around me. My goal has always been to run a Star Wars campaign with the system but so far that hasn't happened. How are the mystic adepts and physical adepts in the new edition for instance?

I saw a mention of a "player's guide" type of book coming out soon after with some alternate chargen but that was in an off hand comment in a thread post and not something official like a press release.

I found these on Amazon (with Amazon's dates; the others are clearly false): Shadowrun Introductory Box Set for August 2013 This was originally announced for Spring 2013. The goal of the set is simple: It should have everything you need to quickly and easily launch an adventure in Shadowrun’s Sixth World setting. It should be approachable, fun to use, eye-catching, and entertaining. With those larger goals in mind, we set about planning the contents for the box. Here’s what’s going in: - The Edge of Now: A world book introducing players to the madness, magic, and mean streets of the Sixth World, providing what they need to know to hit the streets at top speed. - Rules of the Street: A simplified rulebook that includes the critical elements of Shadowrun—Matrix, magic, machines, and so on—in an easy-to-use fashion. - Plots and Paydays: An adventure book with complete information on missions for the players; they can be played alone, or as a longer, inter-connected campaign. Character Booklets: Four pre-generated character sheets, with stats, background, favored tactics, and advancement possibilities—everything you need to pick a character and start earning some nuyen. - Character sheets: Custom sheets for each character, with complete stats for easy reference, along with full-color character art. - Maps: Modular maps of common areas shadowrunners may run into that can be arranged in different ways to suit a variety of missions. - Spell and Gear Cards: Cards that list the stats spells and gear included in the game, so that players have an easy reference in front of them. source Shadowrun Splintered State for September 2013 Shadowrun: SpLinTered STaTe Set in the archetypical Shadowrun setting of Seattle, this adventure sourcebook offers the character statistics, setting information, and plot points needed for gamemasters to take players on an adventure that introduces a new danger to the Sixth World. Scheduled to ship in July 2013. source Shadowrun Stolen Souls for September 2013 Shedding further light on the Sybil virus plotline, this Shadowrun, Fifth Edition sourcebook provides extensive information on New York City in the Sixth World, as well as details on extraction runs, giving shadowrunners tools, gear, and technique that can help get people out of tightly guarded spots. Scheduled to ship in July 2013. source Shadowrun Run Faster for October 2013 Every step, every advantage, every millisecond counts! Shadowrunners need every chance they get to gain a step on the opposition, and Run Faster is full of them. From new character creation options and a broader range of qualities, to lifestyle options, tactical advice, new contacts, and more, Run Faster serves as a crucial companion to players who want to get the most out of their Shadowrun, Fifth Edition core rulebook. Scheduled to ship in August 2013. source Shadowrun Sprawl WildsShadowrunners know they don’t have to wander out of their sprawls to find spaces as wild and untamed as any jungle. Seattle is a perfect example - from the dark corners of the Ork Underground to the overgrown insanity of the Redmond Barrens, Seattle hosts all variety of dangers and angry critters to push runners to their limits. Sprawl Wilds collects four adventures for use with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition. Scheduled to ship in August 2013. source Shadowrun Seattle Box Set for January 2014

The name "run faster" jogged my memory and that is the book the forum post was referencing. I'll be happy when they release the main book and it'l likely take me a few months to digest that (let alone convince my nascent restarting Star Wars Saga campaign to give it a quick shot). Good sleuthing!

I think there is some local interest in Shadowrun where I am but I'm kind of the drag on that party. I need to play Shadowrun Returns to get into it -- and that's been delayed to July 25.

Looks like the pdf broke sales records at drivethrurpg. Feel free to post a review if you bought a digital copy. I'm personally waiting for the hardcover myself.

I'd be interested in a review as well. I've heard a few things about Shadowrun, but never bothered to hunt down anything.

Cool, thx for the link. It's a pretty small file for 30+ pages. I wish all gaming PDFs had optimized versions like that one.
