I found a product to strip paint from both metal and plastic models that's a whole lot better than simple green.
It's called "Lift Off, Spray paint graffiti remover". It is biodegradeable and water based. I brought it from Lowes in the paint section for eight and change with the tax. It comes in a 27 oz spray bottle.
How to use: You'll need: small plastic tray or cup (not too big. Those sandwich containers or an 8 oz cup is perfect), small toothbrush, dental picks or simlar item, gloves, simple face mask (The last two are optional)
If possible remove model(s) from bases. Lift off appears to weaken the plastic of just the bases if left longer to soak than 24 hours. Take the lid off and stream spray directly into the cup or tray just enough to completely cover the model. Spray bottle is very hard to remove the sprayer part to just pour the stuff without damaging the bottle. Place the model in your chosen container and let soak for no less than one hour for plastics or 2 for metals if the paint is old. If the paint is new that time for both model types is around 45 mintues. After the allowed time check and see if the paint has started to come off by using your toothbrush. Scrub the model to remove the paint. Wash model with water to help loosen the paint. You can soak the model back in the solution to remove more paint. repeat until all of the paint is removed. You are going to need to use the dental pick to remove the paint in the hard to reach spots. You can use the solution multiple times until it gets too dirty. After your models are clean, wash it off with soap and water. If you're feeling lazy you can soak the models overnight or longer if they don't have the bases on them. Test before using on resin models.
