Hey folks,

So this is mainly going to apply to those of you who frequently travel by air to different states or countries with your armies. This topic spun off from a discussion in this thread about the new Vortex Grenade case that GW is releasing with the Apocalypse Gamers' Edition. Now, I'm going to be frequently flying internationally and inter-states, and I plan to be bringing an army with me. From what the people in that thread have posted, this is what I have learned:

1. Checking in a GW case is a bad idea (I suspected as much!)
2. The GW Army Figure Case will not meet general TSA/airline guidelines for carry-on sizes (a list of which can be found here) (I also haven't measured it since my case is at my FLGS right now)
-2a. Between 21"x15"x9" to 24"x18"x10" seem to be the range for the airlines I fly.
3. Some people check in their armies with their normal luggage and hope for the best
4. The GW cases are not built for traveling, despite people's anecdotes that it's durable over the years!

Now, I have typically been doing point 3, but I've come to realize that it's starting to get difficult. My armies are including more and more MCs (GK), tanks (Chaos), and flyers (Chaos, Elysians, GK) than before and it's become increasingly difficult to squish them into my check in luggage (I think the probably the people more familiar to answer this would probably be IG players with lots of tanks and troops!). Have you guys carried on the GW cases? Do you use another company's case for carry on?

Thanks in advance!

I've only travelled with my army once by air, and it was an Armored Battlegroup with 30 Leman Russ tanks, fit into the Army Figure Case and one of the smaller plastic cases.

I don't know about any TSA guidelines, but in 2011 I carried them both on.
