Hey guys. I am just getting into 40k and have chosen to play IG. I love the background, the sheer numbers, and the fact that these are mere mortals facing God's, Daemons, and aliens. Honestly, I saw the Valkyrie and decided this is the army I want to run. I am a full time technician in the TN National Guard and fix helicopters for a living, so this model is awesome to me. I love the tanks as well, and have already begun magnetizing some. But most of all, this will be me displaying my adventures as a new assembler/painter of these models. Thanks for checking it out, and feel free to comment with tips, advice, and even criticism!

Thanks!
-Greg

First things first, I used a chimera more as a test bed than anything. I wanted to get the hang of painting and see how things would turn out. It's fairly basic. I was actually extremely intimidated by the tank commander, but I feel this was the best part of the model that I did. I feel as though it looks unfinished, so I'll be touching it up as I get more confident and better at painting.

Up next, I bought my Valkyrie. I noticed that instead of just assembling and painting, there was a entire interior to paint up BEFORE assembling. So here are some in progress pics up to last night.

I need to fix a spot on the call box.

Drilled out the heavy bolter barrels.

From here, I will finish the other side of the interior, then begin on the door gunners.

Thanks for checking it out so far!

For being a newb painter you're doing a wonderful job. I'm not a huge fan of IG in general but will sub this thread to follow it

Noob painter my big fat arse, those are some pretty clean and good looking minis!

The tank commander looks a bit flat. Do you have some shades?

I really, REALLY, like how clean and good looking the interior of that valkyrie is want to see moar!

As a long time IG collector, you're making the right choice- welcome to the Imperial family

Have you considered what kind of fluff you want your Auraxians to have? background setting etc?

Am also looking forward to how this Valkyrie shapes up.

I hit him with some nuln oil, which the flash killed, but his flesh tones look really good. However, the uniform is one solid color, and I'm not sure how to make the wrinkles pop.

I just decided on the name, but I definitely plan on some fluff to go along with them. I may even write a short story on them, seeing as I am a huge Black Library fan as well.

Small update. I'm not sure I like the direction I am heading on the door gunners. I wanted black "flight suits" with green armor. As in the kneepads, chest piece, and boots green. However, I am worried this will be too much black. Thought?

Latest update before bed. Got one gunner, heavy bolter, and side put up. Tomorrow I'm going to try painting the other guy a different way and see how he turns out.

I think the black flightsuits and green armour works fairly well, what's your idea for the other guy?
