Two thousand years is an awfully long time you know.

It doesn't seem like much, relatively speaking, due to all these aeons old factions running around and the IoM itself being 10,000 years+ old, but you have to remember that NOT relatively speaking, Earth's entire post BC history is 2,000 years. That's a LOT of time.

In actuality, even the IoM has gone through multiple "minor revisions" in it's 10,000 years (Age of Apostacy comes to mind), but for the most part remained intact. Really, the fact that it's lasted that long is a big sign that despite how BAD it is, the Imperium must be doing something right.
