The book says that a Grey Knight Company Master Defeated and KILLED Angron on Armageddon.
Killed him? Really? Or was he just banished to the Warp for a while?

Though they can be trapped in a Tesseract forever, which is functionally the same thing. But I highly doubt that is what happened in this case.

Typically, when talking about banishing Daemons, there's sorcery and the use of names etc to sever the Daemons link and banish them back.
Killing, on the other hand, would be the physical slaying of theirform which has the same effect of severing the link.
The two terms aren't really interchangeable, though. I find it highly improbable that a Grey Knight, even a Master, was able to best Angron in combat.
Either there were actually loads of Grey Knights swamping him,and we do know many died, or...more llikely...the author didn't consider the difference important.

There were a hundred Grey Knights present.
Something like eight survived the battle.
But Brother-Captain Taremar engaged Angron and did indeed banish him in combat, before succumbing to his wounds and dying. He could only defeat Angron when all the remaining Grey Knights combined their power to partially banish him to the Warp (He became translucent), stunning him, allowing Taremar to deliver the coup de grace.
Some of this was not in the book proper, this is what happened after Hyperion passes out, as detailed in some old article, IIRC written by Graham McNeill.

This sums it all up really. And the things that happend after Hyperion passed out where retold by some other character I think( My memory is a bit blurred for the moment.)
