Everything in the list was carefully chosen to either protect Caine on the way into the assassination, or to help him during the actual feat turn. The trenchers screen the entire army on the way in, spreading out and popping smoke. Alternatively, they can
CRA at
RAT 18, POW 22 to either remove one model in Caine's way, or to mop up the enemy Caster/Lock should Caine nerf it.
Steamroller 2013 rules state that two different versions of a character may not be used with a different one in each list; for example, you could not have pEiryss in one list and
eEiryss in the other. However, the exact same character may be used in both. The exact text reads:
"Characters Unrestricted – Models/units with
FA C can be included in more than one list."
This is indeed a lot of 'jacks for one caster. However they are more present for the benefits of Positive Charge. Also, the list is not subtle, so strategy will matter a lot. I do have the option of running two waves of heavy hitters, letting the Stormclads lead in the first wave and then letting Stryker and Rowdy push in after to mop up. But mainly I like having 3 bubbles to put in Stormblades so they have
