I'm currently sitting on the fence about joining the Warmachine Tactics Kickstarter. I think the main reason is that I can't decide if Sturgis is good or not. I can't hep thinking he would have been much cooler if he'd cept his 'signature' Cygnar spells in his Cryx form as Snipe and Arcane Shield would have been lots of fun.

Any thoughts?

Arcane Shield in Cryx probably wouldn't have been that big of a deal. Death Ward exists, after all. And Magnus + Galleon exists, so why not Snipe on a Reaper?

They probably did it for thematic reasons. What changed from his transition to epic? Three spells, his weapon abilities, his chain attack, and he gained Undead. A relatively small amount. They could have swapped Convection for Soulfire or Darkfire or something like that too.

As far as whether he's actually good or not, I couldn't tell you. Both versions of Sturgis are stick-and-move styles. Epic has a little more stick, and original has a little more move. Both incarnations seem dangerous. I bet both will lose by assassination more than their fair share. But if you can walk the razor's edge, he'll be a hell of a lot of fun.
