I'll keep this short but when I say that things can sometimes get long, so sorry in advance. I am in my mid-thirties and recently ran into some free time each week. I was thinking about what I should do the half of the week that I don't have my girls and finally decided that I should give Warhammer 40K another try. I had so much fun playing Warhammer 40K, Bloodbowl and Epic back during the early to mid 90's I'm sure the first dice I roll for my first game will be epic!
Thankfully I kept some of my miniatures and over the years my brother and I bought mini's and some books planning on getting some 40K going but each time we never could either get the time or sync our schedules. So I have a odd mix of mini's to start off with which is always fun. I never was into converting things, making terrain or anything beyond BASIC painting when I used to play but now as I read through the net it seem like all of that will be a blast to do. My problem now is to figure out what I want to jump head long into first. Guess that is a good problem to have so no complaints.
A sweet thing that happened to me last fathers day when I was telling my brother how I planned to get back into playing some 40K. He told me I could use all his minis and a couple weeks later he brought them all over. He has collected odds and ends like me over the years but back in 2001 to 2003ish he moved roughly an hour or so away for a new job and made some decent money when he sold his place. On EBay he bought a Tau army and a big mixed lot which had tons of Ultra Marines/Some Sisters/Greyknights/Things from the old witch hunters book that I don't know much about and small amount of odds-n-ends. So now I have a good selection of things that I can build, a good assortment to things prebuilt and painted plus I picked up some stuff to make scenery.
I guess now I have a lot of reading to do on the boards to see which way I want to go army wise, I need to pickup the 6th Ed Main Book and read through it, and see if the gameshop that I used to stop buy now and then is still open and if not where one is.
I hope to see you all around the forums!
