Well the Black 13th and the Widowmakers are units for Cygnar and Khador respectively which bump the boxes by 4 points, and can be seen in many lists at higher points level.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Look at the cards for the unit. There should be a point cost value.

Warcasters instead have Warjack points. Count up the total of all your warjacks(in that casters battlegroup) and reduce their total by the warjack point value.

That will give you your point total.

The usual list size is 15, 25, 35, and 50. You can choose to play whatever point level you want so long as both players agree on it. Also - I thought the Black 13th were the same points as all the other 3 member character units?

A small squad of winterguards would be a nice addition for the khador player as they will then be used in many many other lists. I cant really speak for Cygnar as I dont play them but, my friend uses alot of sword knights which are cheap enough to fit in with the battle box.

Just to clarify, unlike other table top games, your warcaster does not cost points. Instead they provide bonus points for your army that can only be spent on warjacks in that warcaster's battlegroup. Not all warcasters have the same number of points, some have as many as 7, others have as few as 3.

For Cygnar, I'd go Black 13th. They wreck face and make those they destroy call them "sir" while doing. Except for Ryan, who tends to just be called a long string of expletives.

My regular opponents must be pretty unimaginative then, seeing as they just use the same two or three for her

Speaking for Cygnar, I would think about the units and 'jacks that you will use time and again at higher point levels.

Squire- 2 points and an auto-include for every last army list you will ever write. He give your caster more range for his control of warjacks or feat, can give extra focus (magical power) to your caster for a few turns, and help your spells hit their target. Best warcaster attachment in any faction.

Black 13th- 4 points. They solve lots of problems that nothing else in the faction does. You will continually have a problem with stealth and high DEF solos. These guys are a huge threat to both, as well as providing a massive AOE 4 attack that can kill most light infantry that fall under it.

Stormblades- 5 points. A 6 man unit with the heaviest melee hit of any Cygnar infantry (POW 15). Adding the attachments (officer and standard bearer for 3 points or Stormgunners at 1 point a piece) make them hit even harder. They are the most cost-effective answer to heavy ARM we have.

Arlan Strangeways- 2 points, tied for our best mechanic, he also makes our 'jacks un-disrupted and ignore free strikes. He is a great 'jack support model with very high ARM and a spray weapon to boot!

Stormclad- 10 points. With better armor, 2" reach, electro-leap, and a POW 19 deathstick, the Stormclad is well worth the points, especially when run with the Stormblades and Strangeways. eHaley LOVES this guy.

Ol' Rowdy- 9 points of beat face. This character Ironclad works well with everyone, and really shines with eStryker and eCaine. He has the highest MAT in the faction, along with a great weapon and tons of fun abilities. Their is literally no Cygnar caster that would not love to have this heavy hitter in their battlegroup, even Jr.

MERCENARIES-

The Piper of Ord- 2 points. This merc plays the pipes and his tunes make your tough troopers tougher, scarier, and most importantly, PATHFINDER. I find myself including him in most every army list I've ever written bc making a hard hitting melee unit pathfinder has completely wrecked an opponent when they thought they were safe.

Epic Eiryss- 3 points. Somewhat expensive for a low ARM solo, but she always buys her points back for me. Her best features ae her ability to disrupt enemy 'jacks, break enemy upkeep spells on friendly or enemy units, and best of all, stripping focus off of enemy warcasters to drop their power field for the 'caster kill.

Obviously there are certain units and models that are great for one caster or another (Thorn for eHaley, etc.) but the models listed above, I find myself using in list after list, time and time again.

"You cannot imagine the depth of my grief, nor the magnitude of my wrath, nor the scale of the vengeance I shall visit upon them"
