I have been playing Dark Angels for a little while now and I just find there is something missing from the codex and its not quite as good as it could be.
But I still love the fluff as well as the green armour and all that jazz.

So, once the new Space Marine codex comes outs, would it be alright to use them as counts as? or would people find it to be to confusing?

This is my first space marine army so I am not quite sure on the etiquette of the whole thing, because oddly enough not many people play marines in my town.

When life give you lemons keep them, because hey, free lemons

As long as you state in the beginning of the game which codec you are using you are safe.
You might just be fielding the OTHER dark green dark angel which aren't the first legion!

If you feel the codex is lacking, trying fielding Ravenwing with the SOD. Filthy rape .

Technicaly shouldn't they be in pre-heresy black armour?

Only if he wants to play a pre heresy themed list. Otherwise no of course.

On topic: There would be no problem playing them as normal marines. Many people are using marine models as DA at the moment until their own codex updates. After that who knows, maybe DA players will be using SM. But it shows that SM and DA models can mostly represent units from both lists.

OT: Most people would agree using any marine faction as standard marines, and vice-versa, is ok. But how would people feel about, say, a DA tac squad representing a squad of grey hunters?

It's your money, your Fun. If you find more fun using another codex, then go ahead. Just expect alot of Nerd Rage about not using a "proper" codex.

For poops and giggles, just look what happened when SM got a new codex for 5th edition over the 4th edition DA codex. Alot of arguments were had.

Do what you need to do for fun. It's your time, your money, your minis. None of us should be telling you how to have fun. Do what you want to do.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

I often use my DA as SM, BA, and even SW. Nobody really cares just have the proper guns.

I started my army when Dark Vengence was released. And I ran out of the vanilla marine codex since it was more up to date then the DA codex at the time. No one had an issue with it.

And once the Vanilla Codex gets updated, I'll be picking it up and there might be times I run out of it again. After all Power armor Marines, are Power Armor Marines. Doesn't matter if they are blue, green, Red or Black

I like to say I have two armies: Necrons, and Imperium.....

Just realize that there are people who will call foul on you and say you're just playing the most powerful and recent codex. But... they're your toys! So longs as you aren't running stupid powerful lists in a friendly scene I doubt you'll be given much flakk.
