The Battle For Middle-Earth II (which is what I assume you're talking about) is a decent Real-Time strategy game, with some shoddy mechanics which make it inferior to other games like Dawn Of War. However, the customizable heroes are always fun, and there are some unique mechanics in-game which make it worth a play.

It's good, but never quite reaches greatness. It's not as fluid as dawn of war, so it can seem kind of clunky.
