just a few questions i need clearified for me and some players of our group

1. What is considered "behind cover"? Is it just as long as some cover is between you and the enemy, no matter how far away it might be? Or do you have to be within a certain distance, say in BTB contact with it to recieve cover bonus? If this is not the case, can a unit that is being fired at by an enemy unit that is in direct contact behind cover recieve that cover's bonus?

2. Lets say you have a squad that is in BTB contact with cover and is being assaulted. However, the enemy cannot get into BTB contact with those covered models do to the cover terrain peice being in the way, and would need to go around to get into BTB with covered models. How is this resolved?

3. Are blast weapons, such as frag missles and ordinance weapons, able to negate cover, or do you still recieve the bonus?

4. What does BGB, MEQ and RAW mean?

5. How do you determine who goes first in a standard mission? And does this turn order continue throughout the game, or do you re-roll for first after each turn is played?

6. What size is a skimmer considered when it is supposedly hovering over area terrain?

7. In the Ork Codex, under Flash Gitz, I know all Gitz must take the same upgrade, but does this include those armed with Big Shootas?

These are pretty basic questions, but the rules are rather vague on them. Thanks all.

Moz:
You: "Hold on, you rammed, that's not a tank shock"
Me: "Ok so what is a ram, lets look at the rules."
Rulebook: "A ram is a special kind of tank shock"
You: "So it's a tank shock until it hits a vehicle, and then it's a ram, not a tank shock, and then it goes back to being a tank shock later!"
Me: "Yeah it doesn't really say any of that in here, how about we just play by what's written in here?"

Ahoj!
4 - MEQ means Marine EQuivalents, which is a short way of saying SM/CSM/Nekrons, i.e. staline of 4s and 3+ save; RAW means Rules As Written, i.e. if there is a typo and the rules say "enemy units can be s-h-i-t at", instead of "shot at", you are allowed to crap on them, as that's what the rules say, but shooting is forbidden, as we cannot possibly know what was the intention of the rule;
6 - the size of the skimer in that situation is irrelevant

In think issues 1-4 are crystal clear in the Big GREY Book. Maybe try reading again?
5 - it is in the scenario description, and you roll only once.

A new day, a new time zone.

1: If there is something interfering with LoS between the shooter and their target, the target is behind cover.

2: Resolved in the BGB.

3: No, and also in the BGB.

4: Answered.

5: You dice for it. Once.

6: Size is irrelevant.  Full answer on page 61 of the BGB.

7: They're part of the Flash Gitz unit, aren't they?
