Subject: Got my first game of Firestorm Armada in (any tips and tricks for Dindrenzi?)

So I just played my first game of Firestorm Armada and I absolutely love this game. I play Dindrenzi and my friend who has started up with me plays Terrans. He pulled off a slight victory as all he had left was his carrier and battleship when my battleship went down. we just played down to the last man just to get the mechanics down rather than choosing a game type. Im curious if any other players could give me some general do's and don'ts with playing dindrenzi or possibly some advice on how to expand my fleet? so far I have a starter set and a Falchion carrier. I learned my ships are really hard to crit but fell mostly to torpedo and high volume fire.
couple of Q's
has anyone taken destroyers and do they play out well? I had the idea to move'em up and park them their first activation and blast away with their engines cut.
Are frigates useful in larger numbers or are they just harrassers?
cheers

Hah I actually ended up with the exact same match up with my friend for FSA, except he plays Dindrenzi and I'm on Terran.
The effective tactic for Dindrenzi seems to be "line everything up at range band 2". Your forward guns are awesome at that range, and you should try to maximize them as much as possible. If you got chewed to pieces by torpedoes you were probably too far away, since the Terran torpedoes are most effective at range band 4 and lose dice as you get closer.
The Dindrenzi ships are quite tough and like I said they have the huge forward guns.
I've found the Gladius gunship to be their most effective vessel for the points, and it absolutely outmatches similar classed ships from the other races.

The Dindrenzi Destroyers are total crap, massively overpriced and undergunned crap. Buy some RSN Phoenix destroyers, they're far superior and can legally be added as alliance ships to your Dindrenzi fleet.
I would add at least one heavy cruiser but like Bosky said above, the Gladius gunships are a must-have for a Dindrenzi fleet.

yeah he learned quickly to pretty much gunline his pilgrims. I just ordered 2 gladius gunships and a victory heavy cruiser a few days ago so thats good, I was tempted to get those destroyers lol After comparing the trident to the pheonix you're right, there is no comparison. they can be damaged a lot easier but with their engines cut that wont be a problem at all.
