Hi all, I'm new to warhammer 40k, being playing the dawn of war and dow2 video games and I enjoyed IG so i thought this would be a great army to start (I just like the look and feel of it).

So I'm looking for advice regarding an all comers list as I intend to start playing at my local shop and have no idea whatsoever whom I'm going to fight.

I have started a little draft thats goes as:

HQ
CCS 4x plasma, chimera (Multilaser Heavyflamer), 165 pts

Troops
Plattoon 1
PCS 4x flamers, 50pts
2x Infantry squad, autocannon, GL, 130 pts

3x Vets, 3x meltas, powerfist, chimera (multilaser, heavy flamer) 510 pts

Fast Attack
Vendetta 130

Heavy support
LRMBT 150
LR Executionner 190

total 1325

I may be wrong on numbers so correct me if I'm wrong. The idea is that I blob plattoon one for home objective, vets vs big tanks,chimera heavy flamer for hordes, LR executionner and CCS for MEQ and Monstrous creatures. Not sure how I should gear up this setup , or if I should load something like and aegis defence line, hydra flak, manticore, or whatever. I'd also like to know if vox casters are needed. finally, can this list handle its own vs MEQ, NIDs and Orks ? What else to get? i think I need something for objective grabing, vets in vendetta with plasma ?

Thanks in advance and really all feedback is appreciated, I never played the tabletop game so I know there are some specificities, I tried to base myself on some other lists I saw.

I always recommend HB on the vendettas ( +10pts)

I would bring another vendetta (+hb) and for the remainig points try to squeeze in some flamers in that detta aswell.

I tried something a little different,that goes as follows: Basically, it's assuming I already have enough anti tank power to get rid of the third melta squad, and instead use a vet team with plasma and lascanon for some forward objective holding/power projection However, I might also just use the CCS with 3x plasma and a lascannon but I thought that vets get more model to hold ground... I can also drop a chimera and load one of the squads in vendetta and try to add flamers. So basically, should I stick with the first list or second?

I would go for a Demolisher instead of an LR MBT, try to squeeze in the extra 15 points for it, its well worth it.

Ok thanks, I can remove a powerfist in one my team to get that 15 points, thought I'm not sure if I should take it from one of the melta squads or the plasma one.

I can also simply get rid of a chimera and load a squad in vendetta for an extra 55 points, I don't know which option is best, Any thoughts? is 3 chimera enough to provide some screening to my russes?

Which team should I load in vendetta if I get rid of a chimera? (one melta strike team, one plasma/lascanon obj. holder or the company command squad).

Finally, is anything overkill?

The only real place for powerfists is on your commander.... your other sgts with them will not survive long enough in CC to use them so get rid of all and use the points for something else

ok thanks for the tips, I fitted those powerfists since I was wondering how I'd counter an assault with my units, for example deep striking space marines (terminators or assault marines). Is simply counter attacking with another unit a better option? Like if my vanguard gets attacked and they need to hold ground.

I Just saw what you meant too about survivability, the company commander gets enough wounds to suffer a few, I'll fit a powerfist to him instead.
