"Suffer not the Xenos!", this stance of the imperium is pretty well known, but what do the different chapters think?
Black Templars are a no brainer, but for example how firm are the Salamanders in their Xenos-policy when they would have to decide between cooperation and loosing Civilians?

Depends on the Chapter, only the most xenophobic will 100% never work with them but some Chapters will be willing to make alliances of convenience with them. Examples: story in the Space Marine Codex of Ultramarines temporarily working with Tau (Calgar even allowing them to leave the planet before he nukes it), story in the BA Codex of the Marine/Necron alliance.
However, no Chapter is going to deliberately seek out aliens for the purposes of an alliance. Such agreements are temporary, and there's no guarantee that after the fight the "allies" won't turn on each other.

If a xenos and space marine just bump into eachother, one dies, no questions asked. If it gets more complicated (like a 2vs1 with Nids) alliances can be made temporarily.

Short answer: It depends.
Different chapters probably have different attitudes. Some examples.
The Black Templars. When the Templars launch a crusade the might come into a sector with the plan to purge it of anything that isn't Imperial, and even anything that isn't Imperial ENOUGH.
The Ultramarines. They are more in the vein of the Medieval military order that the marines originally were. The Lord of Macragge is both a military commander and an administrator. I am sure that within the area of space controlled by the UMs there are non human planets. The powers that be simply realize that they can't cleanse every planet at once. Resources are finite. So, they make eiter loose alliances or at least agreements of neutrality with some of them in order to take care of immediate threats. This doesn't mean that that cannot change when they get to Planet 427 on the list of Things to Do.
In short (too late I know) I don't think the marines randomly travel through space in their BattleBarges spoiling for a fight with anything that crosses their path. They are not mindless military automatons as some people think, they are shrewd strategic thinkers.

It depends on the situations surrounding the meeting. Your post seems to indicate a xenos force going "Salamanders, let us go or we kill all your civilians", to which no chapter would respond well too(meaning they would all kill the xenos scum threatening the imperium).

Scenario 1:
Space Marine: Excuse me, Is that a Halloween Costume?
Xenos: No it isn't, What is this Halloween thing?
Space Marine: BANG! BANG! BANG! Die Xenos Scum!
Scenario 2:
Space Marine: Excuse me, Is that a Halloween Costume?
Xenos: Yes it is, do you like it?
Space Marine: BANG! BANG! BANG! Die Heretic!
Scenario 3:
Space Marine 1: Oh look, Xenos.
Space Marine 2: Oh yeah, I see them.
Space Marine 1+2: BANG! BANG! BANG!
In all seriousness however, I would think most chapters would base it on the Xenos race involved and the situation they are placed in, if the need was dire enough they would ally temporarily, if not they would fight.
Space Marines I would think would ally with Eldar and Tau well enough in most occassions, but if they found either race on one of the Imperiums worlds with no other hostile life, then it would be on like donkey kong.

Well according to the allies chart Black Templar are better allies with Eldar and Tau than they are with Sisters of Battle.
But I think it's that Black Templar know Eldar and Tau would also try to kill a tyranid hive if it confronted the two of them
But as soon as that tyranid hive is gone. its game-on

Because they didn't think SM had enough of the allies matrix as battle brothers already? Heaven forfend!

The fluff on Tau and SM actually works out for that honestly...At least in cases of shared enemies. Granted, that may not be battle brother worthy still. Though I could see them both campaigning through a system if it was bad enough to warrant it(eg:massive genestealer infestation) and working together on it. And then killing each other for actual control of the system after of course.

So it doesn't work..
Because the definition of battlebrother does not say : "may get along until shared interests cease to exist" , right?
Every Legiones Astartes was trained to end the xeno menace.
Some kept their oaths, others failed and we have 2 basic flavors now.
The disciplined Adeptus astartes trooper and the selfish traitor. The first one follows orders and may restrain himself so the xeno may live ( for now ). The second one is going to backstab anyone, xenos are tools to use and drop at a whim..
Both aren't planning to spare the xeno.

Predominantly by shooting/cutting them up, however they occasionally have to be diplomatic. The Ultramarines working with the Tau against someone else ('Nids or Necrons, I think), and Pedro Kantor and a some of his Crimson Fists talking with the (presumably Eldar) aliens that saved his backside from the Orks are two examples I can remember off the top of my head.
The Imperium is not a friendly entity, put it that way.

As with so much in 40k. It depends.
A lot of chapters are wlling to allow Eldar to live to destroy chaos or Orks.
Similarly some chapters are not willing to allow any alien to survive contact with them. No matter the cost.
