I bought a Whirlwind a while ago to use the rokkit launchers on my battlewagon, and I'm left with a rhino-esque chassis to work with. I decided I'm going to make it into a guntrukk, but because I like modular and interchangeable designs, I haven't picked a single armament for it yet - ideally, I'll be able to make different guns for whatever I feel like arming it with. I may also make a wooden deck attachment that would replace the top turret in the event I don't feel like using a guntrukk or need an extra trukk for transporting my boyz. So, overall, this is going to be a very open-ended design. I couldn't help but see an orky face in the original Rhino front plate, so I figured I'd emphasize it a bit by bulking it out and making it a flat impact surface. After having put LEDs in my battlewagon, I wanted to do the same with all of my other vehicles. I cut two thin panes of glass and sanded them down a bit so they would diffuse light, and put them behind the 'eyes' of the vehicle - they'll ideally light up an orange color once I go out and buy the LEDs. I'm making the hatches openable and I tore out the interior doors of the Rhino, since no respectable ork is going to let a door slow him down between him and the fightin'! I plan on making a turret that will fix onto the top and be removable for when I need to use the vehicle as a transport Trukk in my army. I actually think that since I'm planning on making a Zzap cannon, I'm going to make a turret mount and two large, thick power cables that trail down from the barrel into the base of the turret and down into the two holes that aren't planked up - the only thing I have to take care to do is to make sure that they're still removable when I make this. This is an earlier shot in it's development, but it shows what the eyes would look lit up. Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated, as I like feedback a great deal.

I use Rhinos for all of my Speed Freak vehicles. It never occured to me to change the front in order for it to resemble an Ork. Great idea and model.

Nicely done. Where's the gun for the 'guntrukk' part going to go?
Oh, and more rivets. Definitely more rivets.

It's hopefully going to go right atop the wood planking, magnetized down. I picture a Zzap gun on a rotating turret with huge chunky power cables trailing off the base and into the two open holes in the top of the tank for power. And yes, rivets are a must, but they come a bit later on as I like to get the whole vehicle done with at once.

Seriously awesome. May I recommend trying to find a 2d Ed tractor cannon for your ZZapp gun. I used one for my battlewagon a while back. I didn't see any in the on-line store, but maybe you can find one on Ebay.

And the lights are almost done. I ripped the missile back out and put a toggle switch in there, then put the missle back ontop of it - wiggle the missile to the left, the eyes turn on. I picked a green color to offset the fact that I plan on painting the body of the vehicle red - I felt that the effect that red lights would have would be negligible. 9v battery's sitting in the interior right now, which I think I'm going to end up closing off to force the boyz to ride on the wooden top and effectively make it 'open-topped' again.

Things never seem to quite happen in the order I plan them with this trukk, but so be it. A lot of the newer changes are internal - I've repositioned the 9v sideways, which is practically a perfect fit - it slides in through the side doors after a bit of carving, and it's seated perfectly in there which means I can change it or fix the wiring if it ever comes to it. I also glued a metal plate down underneath the planking, so now anything with a magnet in it's base'll end up sticking to the floor. Should make fixing the turret in place easier. I obviously put sandbags all around the edges, which I think looks pretty good. There are some slightly large holes in the rear sandbag area, but I will be able to fix that without much of a problem by adding chains that loop through them to hold it together. These are Tamiya 1/48 scale sandbags, by the way - I think 1/35 would have been excessively large. I put an engine component hanging out the back of the trukk in order to push the speed aspect of it - this is a Kult of Speed vehicle, after all, and excessive engines are key. It's not very integrated at the moment, but I will be building additional piping/wiring/exhausts leading from it. I think I'm just going to flat-out remove the rear drop-down door. And, of course, it needs a removable turret. All in due time, though.

I can cover the windows fairly easily while spray-priming. If you mean the switch, I'm not too concerned with getting a little primer in there, honestly.
I'll probably cut little squares of an index card or something to cover the eyes.

I second IronKodiaks idea. Leave the rear door open, maybe chain up one side, but not quite level so the bottom is worn from getting drug around... and having a couple of grots back there haning on for dear life. 1 with a gun, shooting at something. 1 tending the engine (and maybe burning his hand or something).
