Hi wanting to get back into warhammer 40k after a 2 year break. I haven't bought any new models or books recently so I'm unsure of how many points it is. But my small army of tyranids is made up of:

1 Tyranid prime with a death spitter
12 gene stealers
10 termagaunts

Sorry I don't know how many points this is in 6th edition.
Is this a reasonable army to start with?

With rules like overwatch, random charge distance, no charging out of reserves or on turn 1 when you infiltrate or outflank; Genestealers, sadly, aren't what they used to be. Every game I've tried them in they usually end up getting mowed down. They are somewhat viable if you plan on running them in place of a trygon prime or a big badass cc unit and stick FNP on them from a Tervigon, but still, it's a lot of finesse. BUT you can still run them as Y'mgarl Genestealers (Elite) and they are pretty good and can assault from reserves.

ANYWAYS.. here's a good place to start based off what you have. All you need to do is buy 1 Tervigon and 16-25 more Termagaunts (Tervigons spawn gaunts in the game). I can build you a 1000 point list if you'd like, just tell me if you want friendly, competitive, close combat, shooty, mixed, deepstrike, swarm, unique- w/e. Hope this helps!

HQ- 100
Tyranid Prime- DS, TS 100

Elite- 161
(7)Y'mgarl Genestealers 161

Troops- 225
Tervigon- TS, Catalyst 185
(10)Termagaunts 50

Thank you for the quick reply Sorry mine is a bit late. I think a Tervigon would be a nice addition to what I have already. It would be good to have a bigger model in my list. With regards to the Tyranid prime, obviously it came with 2 other warriors. Do you think it would be a good investment point wise to get another 3 of them to escort the tyranid prime?

You could consider Converting the extra warriors to biovores.

Im not too keen on the biovores I would like a versitile unit which I dont think the biovore is. Whereas I could use a unit of 5 warriors in many different scenarios.
