I was stuck deciding what to do either to play the combat patrol tourny or 1000 point tourny which are the same day. So I decided to play the 1k tourny and now am having trouble deciding what to do with this list and am looking for ideas. This in no way is intended to be competitive just fun to play.
HQ
Interrogator-Chaplain with jump pack 125
Troops
5 scouts with snipers and cloaks 70
5 tac marines with plasma cannon 85
10 tac marines with heavy bolter, meltagun, rhino 195
Fast attack
9 assault marines sgt with power sword and melta bombs 173
Heavy support
5 dev with 2 LC 110
predator with autocannon and heavy bolter sponsons 95
vindicator with hunter killer and siege shield 145
that totals up to being 998. I was considering dropping the assault squad for another tac squad and drop the jump pack from the chaplain which would put me at 976 without any special weapons to the new tac squad. One big problem I have adding the 3rd tac squad is the lack of variety in my infantry. Any ideas guys?

I wouldn't worry about lack of variety - Dark Angels are quite a shooty army so I don't think the assault marines really fit anyway. And if you drop the assault marines you really have no reason for an Interrogator Chaplain - a cheap Librarian rolling on Divination would be a better choice. I'd probably drop the scouts as well, Tactical marines are just better.

Well I know you want fun, however, a good balanced list is fun as well. Dev's are a waste if your not going to equip them all. I would drop the assault squad as they are not troops. I would also drop the predator and hb from the squad with the rhino. HB are awesome and should be much better, however the rules for them make them unplayable IMO. Then you can put two tac squads in razorbacks and plasma guns, maybe even a combi plasma. Or possibly even one has melta/combi melta. Kit out the devs better. As for the Interrogator Chaplain. He's kind of a waste in this situation. I would personally take a libby for divination with devs. I like the interrogator Chaplain in a veteran squad though. Also, the hunterkiller is a waste ;P. 5 points for a miss sometimes, always disappoints. Anyways good luck man.

ok so susgestions taken in mind i now have this HQ Librarian 65 Troops 5 tac marines with pc 85 10 tac marines with meltagun and combi melta and meltabombs in rhino 10 tac marines with plasma gun, combi plasma and meltabombs in rhino Heavy support 10 dev 2 LC and 2 ML combat squad this unit predator with autocannon and heavy bolter sponsons 95 vindicator with storm bolter and siege shield 145 This comes to 1000 points exactly. I would go with 4 LC dev but I dont have the models for it and I made it a 10 man squad so they can take some wounds before I loose the heavy weapons. I could consider taking a 5 man dev squad with 4 missiles and adding another tac squad with pc. I added the storm bolter for the purposes of weapon destroyed results and because I needed to spend 5 points. I kept the predator because I do like that on an infantry unit I can get off 8 shots at them most of the time. I also went against my norm dropping the chaplain because I do love the chaplain as a character but this is more of a shooty army and at this points value I really need to play towards its strength.

That's much better. With the Librarian, roll on the Divination table and hope for Misfortune, if you don't get it take Prescience. Both are great for shooty armies.

Much improved my friend. I like it, good thought put into everything. Let me know how the predator does. Never used one myself.

Predators have been good cheap gun platforms for me. Either they leave it alone and it ends up putting a hurting on a few units or it draws fire and survives decently with its AV 13.

So here is how this list did......
I made one change. I added another 5 man tac squad with a pc and changed the dev squad to a 5 man with 4 ml
Disclaimer: the scenarios used were completely obnoxious.
Went 1-2 but took 4th overall, of 16 players.
First game vs necros. The scenerio was purge the alien but with an additional objective to destroy all the buildings on the table each worth 2vp. I lost by one vp because he used his necron warriors to glance the buildings to death. Even though it was a loss my only casualties were one 5man tac squad and a vindicator. I in the first 2 turns shot to death his 6 strong wraith unit with a destroyer lord in it. The predator scoring 4 wounds in the first turn alone. His deployment was too scattered for his monolith and ctan to be effective.
Second game against chaos. The scenerio was big guns never tire which worked for me since everything was either a troop or heavy choice. The bad part was the additional stipulation was every weapon gets hot and if it already gets hot it did so on a 1 or a 2. This was another loss by 1 vp but I had almost nothing left on the table. His nurgle bike squad with a chaos lord in it was a giant wrecking ball through my gun line. Also losing ten marines to gets hot didn't help.
Third game was against an infantry guard list. This scenerio was the relic BUT your opponent deploys your army and movement was random using a scatter dice. If it moved off the table it was gone! I won this with decent rolls with my scatter dice and simply he couldn't handle my overwhelming volume of shots.
In the end the only loss I really think where I was handed a good loss was against the chaos army. I think I will continue to try this list with some small tweeks. Thanks for the input from those who contributed. The next is a legit 1850 tourney which I am going to run a fluffy all ravenwing list.
