Love 'em or hate 'em flyers are here to stay. So lets blow the crap out of them! On Saturday August 31st I will be running the following themed game similar to the Tanksgiving event ran in the past. The idea is to have a team based raid scenario on an air field. Players will be split into teams based on who shows up and what units they bring. The main objective here is to have fun. If this event goes well Ill host more themed events.

Please ask any questions in the thread and I'll answer them the best I can. If you have any major issues with the rules let me know and Ill consider changing them. This event is meant to be fun, not balanced entirely; war isn't always fair. Hope to see lots of people there.


10$ Entrance fee for prize support!. Start time 12:30pm. It is suggested you eat lunch before hand and show up at 12:00 so I can set up the teams evenly. We will have a game briefing/rule explanation/A&Q before the dice start flying.

SetUp: 3 tables create a T shape; a 4’x12’ with a 4’x6’ placed 90 degrees off the middle of the long table. Terrain will reflect a city on the long table section and an airfield on the 4’x6’.

Objective: Score as many points as possible for your team. Players will be broken up into two teams, Attacking and Defending. After 12 or so turns or at an opportune turn the game will end. Team with the most points wins. A break will take place after 6 turns. Prizes for attacking/defending player who gets the most kills, best painted units, and for other silliness through out.

Attackers go first!

Forces/Deployment: Each player can take 250 pts. All flyers/monsterous creatures a single person brings will form a squadron. It is suggested for the theme of this game you try and take tanks or eliets for ground units. Units that are fitting for attacking/defending a location.
Attackers must take 1-2 flyers; and/or 1 ground unit/tank
Defenders can take up to 2 flyers; and/or 1 ground unit/tank. Take an Aegis Defense line with any upgrade for free. These will count as AA emplacements.

Attackers enter play from either of the 4’ table edges of the 12’ section. Which edge is determined randomly; 1,2,3 left edge and 4,5,6 right edge.

Defenders can start ground units within 6’’ of any AA guns or VITAL BUILDINGS. Their deployment table edge is the 4’ edge of the table sticking off the 12’ section.

Scoring System:
-Killed enemy Vehicle/Flyer 2 pts
-Killed enemy Vehicle by ramming 4pts
-Killed enemy Vehichle with any armor value of 13 or higher 5pts
-Killed enemy vehicle with any armor value of 13 or higher by ramming 7pts
-Defenders gain ¼ point for each VITAL BUILDING still in play each full turn.
-Attackers get the point value attached to 6 VITAL BUILDINGS(the further into the table the higher the value) when they are destroyed. VITAL BUILDINGS are AV 14 all around, 5 HP, -1 on Damage Chart, Ceramite Plating.

Special Rules:
-Long Range Ack-Ack: Attacking planes re-entering from on going reserve automatically take D3 S6 hits on their side armor.

-High Velocity Approach: All flyers must travel 24’’ when entering the field; they cannot hover first turn.

-Get’m Of the Ground: Defender planes all start in reserve.

-AA Emplacements: Defenders only. One Quad gun or Icarus Las Cannon must be manned to shoot. They are placed before the game starts. These guns have a spotlight on them; they ignore stealth/shrouding on a 3+. (Its hard to light up fast moving planes)

-Send in the Next Wave/Our Last Stand: Whenever an Attacking or Defending squadron/ground unit is destroyed in its entirety it reenters the game next turn in the appropriate deployment zone. Any defending unit that is not a tank/walker/monstrous creature can reenter from a Vital Building. Attackers must roll to see what tableside they enter from.

Upgrade Rolls!:
Flyers 120pts and under roll on the table below. This upgrade stays in play.
1 Advaced Targeters(+1 BS)
2 Vector Dancer (See main Rulebook)
3 ‘Da Supa Dupa Shoota. (D3 shots at S10)(Replaces Primary Weapon)
4 Ace Pilot (Reroll jink)
5 Venerable (may make enemy reroll on Damage Table)
6 Extra Armor (+1 side, front, rear Armor to a max 14)

Ramming a Flyer:
To Ram a flyer follow the normal rules for movement the exceptions being, you have to move a minimum of 24” & your movement must take you past your targets position. (You have to be able to fly past them as they evade). If you declare that you are ramming you cannot shoot in the shooting phase (No Power of the machine spirit, No snap fire….nothing) Your target can evade on a 3+. If the roll is successful they have evaded. If the roll is failed,

Each vehicle immediately suffers a hit against the armor facing where the other vehicle has impacted (so the rammer always uses its front armor). The Strength of the hits will often be different for different vehicles, and is calculated as follows for each vehicle:
• Armor. Each point of armor +1 above 10 on the point of impact:
• Speed. Each full 3" moved that turn +1 by the rammer before impact:
• Impact - both vehicles take an additional hp of damage.

If both vehicles are destroyed the player that rammed is awarded the points for destroying the enemy vehicle.



TEAM UPGRADES!
For every 3 players on a team, pick one of the following.
ATTACKERS:
-Grot Tail Gunners: All attacker planes are equpied with grot gunners. They shot on the rear 90 degree arc: BS3, Assault 2, S6, Twin Linked
-Chaff Launchers: Attacker Flyers ignore the interceptor rules for AA guns.
-Aerial Acrobatics: All Attacking flyers gain 5+ inv save when evading.

DEFENDERS
-Camo AA Nests: AA guns gain a 4+ cover save, 6+ inv. save
-Radar Jammers: Defenders can reroll to see what table edge an attacking plane enters on.
-Protocol 87: All attacking planes evade rams from defending planes on a 5+ instead of a 3+. Ram kills by this only gain 3 points.

Randomness:
Once every two turns the event organizer rolls on this table. Things are going to get interesting real fast.

2 - Warp Storm - Before the turn each Flyer is moved 3d6 in a random direction. Roll 3D6 and a scatter dice for direction then a second scatter dice to see which way it faces. Any vehicles that scatters off the board or on to impossible terrain stops and roll the scatter to face in a random direction.
3 – Da’ Gods Approve- One random vehicle (event organizer’s choice) gets to reroll all hit and penetrate dice. Anyone shooting at that vehicle must reroll all successful to hit to penetrate and damage rolls. Anyone who actually destroys this vehicle gets triple points for the kill!
4 – Hurricane – Visibility is limited all flyers have shrouded. Movement reduced to 18’’ for one turn.
5 - Frenzy - You must shoot the nearest vehicle this turn, friend or foe!(You still gets points even if you kill a teammate)
6 - Acid Rain - All flyers are -1 AV, roll a D6 on a 1 lose a HP.
7 - Fog – All flyers have stealth if they do not shoot.
8 - Twist of Fate - All Players take charge of the vehicle owned by the player to their immediate left for this turn.
9 – Grot Snipers – Grot Snipers shoot the closest flyers. (BS3 - Heavy 2 Str7Ap4 twin linked/Sky Fire)Four are placed randomly
10 – Sandstorm - Visibility is limited all flyers have shrouded and all shooting attacks are -1 BS, roll a D6 on a 1 lose a HP
11 - Minefield - All vehicles take DANGEROUS terrain tests (yes in the air) Roll a d6 on a 2 the flyer loses a HP. Rolls of a 1 destroy flyers(No saves of any kind).
12 –Da Goodz!!!! - Place a small “Token” in the center of the board. Whichever team picks it up and leaves the board with it gets 10 extra pts. Only tanks or skimmers/hovering flyers can pick it up(its to heavy for troops to move). Reduces movement to 6’’ per turn!

If things go smoothly, I'd estimate we'll probably wrap around 6pm. Rounds should run fast with everyone acting at once under the GMs direction. As a themed game, we'll be calling it after the last full turn when we reach our end time, with the winning team being the team with the most points as outlined above.

That being said, Mike, what do you think of making the points level something like 400-450? I've been fiddling with lists and it seems like to bring 2 flyers and a ground unit with some upgrades that's what the points level is rounding out to be.

Just a thought. I'd like for people to bring two flyers *and* something cool for the ground defense / assault.

Definitely. At 500 I can bring a fully kitted Crimson Hunter and a Wraithknight (awesome), or a pair of Heldrakes and some cultists to fire the AA guns, or a pair of Sunshark Bombers and a pathfinder team to mark the key targets on the ground, or a nightscythe carrying a squad of Immortals and a Doomscythe, etc.

You get the idea.
