So I've gotten about ten games in with the new codex so far and here is the army I've worked my way up to. I generally run the wraith knight as the warlord and so far he's been quite the beast except against mine shekel scarabs. I'm currently considering dropping the jet and changing one squad of wraithguard to guardians, and adding another war walker squad, either with 2x BL or SLsr/StrC.

What do you guys think? I mostly play against Crone and daemons right now with the mix of a couple other armies here and there.

This list actually looks pretty good as is. 2x Wraithguard is much more valuable than only 1x, the crimson hunter is definitely a risk but I don't think you could manage AA without it. I'm not sure you need BLs on the warwalkers but its not a bad call. Play test this sucker because I don't really have any theoretical complaints.

The Twilight Zone

It honestly looks really good. I run a very similar core for my 1850.

Three things to consider. First, if your going to put the ghostwalk matrix on only 1 wraithguard serpent, make sure your spiritseer is here. He has a lot of army to boost, so getting him to the right part of a battle is critical. Say your WK is in melee, and then he can drop a deathmark from his serpent nearby. Very good stuff.

Second, you could drop the rangers and the ghostwalk matrix to get a second spiritseer for more psychic boosting and death marking. The rangers are a static element and easily picked. Don't get me wrong, a squad of rangers adds utility to a list, but so does a second seer.

Last but not least, look into grabbing a wraithforge stone. This lets your seer heal your wraithknight every turn on a 3+, making your warlord virtually impossible to kill.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

So I've tweek the list a bit. After doing a little playing I'm seeing the wraithguard as more of a reactionary force to deter people from getting to close and for messing them up when they do. This is because of their short range and low numbers. With the long range firepower this army current presents, I'm going to test out dropping/switching out 1 wraightguard unit for guardian defenders, and upgrading the other to D'Scythes. This will increase the Wraithguard's ability to defend the other units around them, and act more of a denial unit then before.

Also, the crimson hunter while fun, just hasn't played a competitive role for me. I find it very hit or miss, and with other armies almost able to take 2 fliers to my one, that means I'm usually snap firing after the first round it comes in. So I'll be dropping that.

I'll also be dropping the rangers. While they are a neat unit, I think for a very competitive all comers the 60 pts will be better spent upgrading the Wraightknight to the 300pt version. I've played with both versions a couple times, and I find the utility from those extra 60 pts is just plain awesome. Being able to take out a tac squad a turn out of cover, and most of one in cover is just plain useful.

With the rest of the extra points I want to increase my ranged firepower further, so I'm going to add another 3 BL War Walkers. I find I've been playin and seeing quite a few more vehiles, especially AV13 Crons and this long range firepower will help me deal with them from the start, while staying out of range of return fire for a round or two.

Here's the list, what do you think?
