I'm going to be in Bristol this Saturday and was wondering if there were any gaming stores near the center I can pop to whilst the GF goes clothes shopping. I know there was Wargaming Store there, I think it was called cutthroat gaming or something similar, till recently but it closed a while ago. I was last there a few years ago and remember a comic store that sold board games but not figures. I can remember what it was called but it was at the bottom of a hill in the city center.

The only thing Google has turned up is forbidden planet.

Used to deal with them when I was a comic distributor - good guys from memory but not sure how easy they are to get to - I don't know the area

Comics and CCG's rather than wargaming and a store I know nothing about, but may be better than River Island for a bit

Vanguard Wargaming in Hotwells is amazing. It's a bit of a walk from the centre (go along the river away from the watershed), down below Clifton, but it has 10-12 tables with AMAZING terrain and a good stock of GW, FoW and some other bits and pieces.

I moved away recently and really miss the place.

Cut and Thrust was better located and had a good stock but collapsed under its own weight after a while, sadly. Keeping three floors open all the time just cost too much.

Read the first two novels in the Maelstrom's Edge Universe now:

Maelstrom's Edge: Faith - read a sample here!

and

Maelstrom's Edge: Sacrifice

Cheers for that. Vanguard Wargaming looks fantastic but it's a good mile or two from the City Center. I'll have to see how much time I can get away from the missus.
