Dark Angels Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries

Colchester, Essex

Hey guys

So a few months ago i painted my first tank, a predator for my Dark Angels. I used the GW spray gun and it didnt come out too bad, but my second coat i got abit excited on and got a few drips which i sorted out while they were wet with a brush. I then decided to do i thin coat of paint with a brush, still looks great on that front. Now my problem is that i put some 5th company transfers on it to keep inline with the Dark Vengeance boxset and i used some Humbrol matt varnish to seal them and i think i went abit heavy on it as it now looks a bit white/clear/basically spunk colour haha. So i was gonna get some dark green spray as it'll make things easier when i come to do more tanks or even tact squads. you cant tell where the tranfers are they are now flush with the varnish on top.

Is it just a simple case of just spraying over the top of them without it noticing? May sound like a daft question but iv never done transfers before, let alone resprayed a tank with them on.

Any help im grateful for

Nick

The green should be dark enough to cover the decal color. The problem might be is if the decal will have a raised edge on it after you spray it again. Do you have any?

Matt varnish will effect the decas if they are not protected.

You could possibly apply another decal to the same spot. When you apply decals, its all in the prep stages before its applied.

First = Cover the area(the whole panel not just where the decal will end up) in a coating of gloss. I use 'Ard coat from GW.

Second = Then carefully get the decal into place and dry up all the water. Make sure there are no air pockets. Use decal solvent so the decal will contour to the model.

Thirdly = After the solvent is dry, recoat the area with the gloss again to seal it in and make the edges flat.

Fourth = Recoat the whole area with your matt sealant. Let it dry.

Fifth = Sit back and enjoy the model looking so good. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done.(optional)

Hope this helps.

YOUR SUFFERING WILL BE LEGENDARY, EVEN IN HELL
