This kind of container is super useful for modern scenery and very usable for SF.

It will stand about 3 inches high giving very useful cover to infantry, walkers, and small vehicles, and accurately representing a single storey of a building in 40K rules. About 17cm long == 20 foot container unit.

The downside is the price, which is 17.50 Euros on the Italeri site though it may be available cheaper elsewhere.
