Hi Every one,
Played my first game last night and love the game! I want to expand my battle box, I would like to build a nice Storm Blade list. I know running a Storm Clad will greatly help them last while making my way up the board so I know he is a auto include due to that and his synergy with them. From there I’m lost I have no idea what else to add and to take out, Also how do units of troop compare to a jack? I love the idea of a Storm Blade list but how effective are they? Any help would be great I’d like to make a 15 point list and a 35 point list. I also know attaching the UA will help the Storm blades out and give them some new tricks. Even though I’m new to the game it sounds like id be putting to many eggs in one basket if I fully deck them out.

True, it is quite a few eggs in that basket, but the Stormblades are worth it. They hit at POW 15 on the charge which is awesome. It's guaranteed to wipe most one-box heavy infantry and severely damage if not disable most 'jacks. Adding the Captain gives them so many new options that they love.

Some other good options, besides the Stormclad (which is a great next buy, good instincts there), there are some solos you could consider that help them. Models like the Piper of Ord and Archduke Runewood benefit the unit, and other units in your army. Giving your warcaster pathfinder is huge.

Perhaps also consider Arlan Strangeways. He is 2 points, with Repair 10, he removes disruption (great against Eiryss), makes your 'jack ignore free strikes, or can give it 1 focus. Combined with the 1 focus gained from the 'Blades, the Stormclad could run at 2 focus with no burden on Stryker.

Some other Cygnar units that you are going to want to soon pick up bc they find their way into almost every list are:

The Squire, 2 point warcaster attachment
Ol' Rowdy, our 9 point character 'jack who works well with everyone, but LOVES Stryker
The Black 13th gun Mage strike team. They are a 4 point character unit that covers a lot of gaps you will find elsewhere in the Cygnar armory.

I’ve came across a little info in regards to the trenchers buffing the range of the Stormblads shooting attack, is this true and if so how does it work?

Storm Clad is going to be my next purchase going to buy the Heavy Jack kit and us the shield and sword to make my own Storm Clad.

I also seen that EStryker will help the Stormblades move up the board faster. I do plan on running another unit of StomBlads with a UA. If I do that thanks to EStrykers theme thing I get the second UA free correct? I’m still very new so I’m not all to sure how that works.

I was also told to avoid the Squira and run a journy men war caster and have him run the StormClad. If i do that it would Free up Estryker to buff the StormBlades.

Stomblade captain---Gives them relentless charge and negates the Stormblades from blocking each other LOS. So i was going to use on unit as a meat shield.
I’m not all to sure how many points this is. The thought is to drop AOE's all over the place. The gunners if they hit once allow every one else to hit for free. Being able to block each other and shoot sounds fun.


Anyways in picking the game up last week and playing one game. I feel like I caught on and have learned more then I have in 40k and I’ve been playing that for years.

Not sure what the Trencher/Stormblade connection is, I've never heard of that. The only thing that really helps the Stormblades is Snipe and Deadeye, the more useful being the latter.

When running any army within a warcaster's Tier List, you must follow the restrictions and gain the benefits of whichever tier you use, in addition to the tiers below it. When doing this with eStryker, one of his later tiers give you a UA for the Stormblades for free, ignoring FA restrictions (the number of any one unit can take per warcaster in the army).

Stormblades work amazing with eStryker and will always always always be included in his forces. He gives them a free per-game move, they love his spells, and lets you take their favorite 'jack, the Stromclad, for one point cheaper.

The biggest synergy comes when you cast Positive Charge on the 'Clad or Rowdy. Every Stromblade within 3" of it becomes MAT 9, POW 17. On the charge, it won't take many of those to wreck anything in your path. Not to mention the MAT 9, POW 21 Stormclad itself.

On the Journeyman... I've never seen his benefits outweigh the risks when putting a 'jack in his battlegroup. He has to stay within 6" of it, putting him on the front line. When (not if) he dies, your 'jack goes inert. You now have a 9 point paper weight. I mean, some say his +3 ARM buff on the Blades is worth it, but it's only on one unit, and Stryker's spell gives +2 ARM to everything in his control area anyways. So let's look at how to make that area bigger.

Which brings us to the Squire. He is an auto-include in every Cygnar list you ever write. He increases your control area by 2" (which is HUGE for eStryker's feat), lets you reroll a failed magic attack every turn, and then gives you an extra focus 3 turns per game. More than worth the two points, and arguably the best warcaster attachment in the game. Cheaper than junior, more resilient, and can run every turn while still performing all his functions, it is the best 2 points you will always spend.

So a good tier 2 list would look, like this:

On feat turn, it's the equivalent of putting 4 bricks into a pillow case and slapping your opponent 'round his/her face with it... Then moving 3" and doing it again.
