Well, since I like Star Wars when I was a little child (i.e who does not watch it when they are Young, seriously), since I saw this game come around, I had a interest in it. The down side was that they did not have any of the bigger ships, although from what I have seen in the most recent wave I think, that might get me to join a little bit more.
I might ask for the starter set for my birthday along with a few other things (Maybe for the other games I play or this, I do not know yet). How good is the starter set and how are the rules for the game?

The starter set is nice. Try it out and see if you dig it. If you do consider picking up a second starter set because its the best value for your money ship number wise.
Afterwards pick up whatever ships you like. But keep in mind that rebel ships tend to be more expensive than empire ships. tie fighters are cheep chaff while x-wings are supriseingly durable.
The rules are easy to pick up and the game moves along at a good pace so it doesn't get boring.
The most obvious downside of the game is that the expac's arn't in stock anywhere pretty much. They are almost never in stock on the website and those that are listed on ebay get more expensive the longer they are out of stock.
Which is another reason why 2 starter sets are a good buy, because those are always in stock.

The starter set is a nice bundle for an excellent price. If you have browsed some of the other threads, youll notice that most people actually get two to get started.
More ships, more dice, more templates at a reasonable price!
After that, you pick up whatever flavor you like: Imperials or Rebels, slow moving ships that can take a beating, or fast paperplanes ...
The ships arent THAT expensive, so its nice to have some different possibilities at hand to switch around a bit.
The rules are rather simple. It does get a bit more complex once you add all sorts of different ships with new abilities and new weaponry. But all the things you need are always included in the boosters etc

Alright, I might have to keep that in mind for getting two. Although can one starter set for now work until then? And I did see that for the expansions as well on Miniature Market and so on, which is a bit of a let down because I like a good amount of them on the same side.

Two starters is definitely a good beginning; 3 ships for $40 plus dice and templates beats $45 for the same ship count (retail). This also makes it so when you play you have that second set of movement templates to speed things up. While ships move in a specific order, in the early goings where there's no chance of ship interaction it lets you get towards the shooting that little bit faster. More dice is always a good thing as well, regardless of game.
The expansions are great if you can lay hands on them. My FLGS had a pretty decent stock and I was able to find all the other ones I wanted (including X-Wings and TIE Interceptors) at Barnes and Noble, which might not be a place you'd normally think to check for this sort of thing. I now have a fairly decent collection for just starting a couple weeks ago, and I'm looking forward to wave 3 hitting the shelves.

I guess I will have to keep an eye out for that at my local B&N. Alright, I might try to go for that. Not guaranteed to get two starter sets for my birthday, but I might try and convince the importance of it.

If you can't find boosters at B&N, I have an X-Wing still in booster. I'm only looking for retail cost+shipping, no increased cost at all. Just an offer if other attempts to find the ship that includes Wedge are failures.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Yeah, after reading about how some of them are hen's teeth to find I was kind of surprised to come across 2 X-Wings and 4 T/Is at one of the B&Ns around here.
The other one only had a smattering of T/Fs, T/As and a Y-Wing, but they too were snatched up for the most part.
