Hi all I need some help expanding on orks I recently picked up a job lot on ebay for £30 and this is what I got
1 warboss with a powe klaw and combi scorcha in mega armour (conversion warboss in a looted dreadnought quite smart)
50 slugga boyz
1 truck
2 zapp guns
1 kannon
I'm thinking lootas and a aegis are a go to choice
A kff mek
And maybe a couple of dakka jets?
More boyz?

Sluggaboyz tend to work best as trukk boyz in 6th eddition imo, so I'd baisicly recommend making a trukk army out of this, followed up by lootas in the back, (I prefer 2-3 squads of 5, some prefer bigger squads) and a KKF Big Mek to protect the Trukks while they zoom across the field
Zapp guns are kinda bad as far as i know, but Kannons are great. So if you can convert those zapguns into kannons it would be great heavy support choice.
For fast attack I'd add 1-man squads of deffkoptas with TL Rokits (2-3)
I did not believe how good they are until I tryed them
Dakkajets are always awesome and are always a good choice though.
I have heard that Mega armor warboss with a squad of 3-5 Meganobz is great now if you use a transport for them, though generally I see that people use either a bikeboss with nob bikers (as do I) or a regular warboss with a squad of nobs in a trukk or a battlewagon.
Since I mentioned Battlewagons, they are best used with shoota boyz instead of slugga boyz imo, and you dont want just one BW since it will get focused asap, and they die almost as easy as the trukks these days. Still they are a great choice if you go that rout, especially due to the Deff Rollas
Either way, even if you go the other two routs, aka get more boyz and do the footslogging dance, or do a Killakan wall, it will still be a fun army to play
Keep on WAAAGH!ing

Bunches of boyz. Loads of Lootas. And tons o' templates. Looted wagons are awesome artillery. And Lootas are amazing. if your going into a shooty army then shoota boyz make a great meat shield.

I like the idea of the trukk boys zooming across I'm looking for a fast moving assault army as I normally play a very shooty dark angels army but lootas are just awesome.
Ill try my hand at converting the zapp guns can't be too hard I have a loot of marine spares to help.
What is the normal load out for nob bikers? They seem so expensive!
So you would definitely recommend trukks over battle wagons?I was looking at running two with deffrolas and taking a big mek in one and the warboss in the other
I will definitely be getting dakka jets for fast attack choice. I haven't really looked at the dakka jets though whats the typical load out?

Nob Bikers are expensive no doubt about it
A loadout I use is
5 Nob Cybork Bikers (Painboy, Powerclaw Bosspole, Powerclaw Waaagh Banner, Big Choppa, Big Choppa)
360
accompanied by a warboss with the following loadout
Warboss (Bike, Cybork Body, Powerclaw, Attack Squid )
150
It is a deathstar squad, that can zoom across the board as fast as trukks can, and are both very survivable (4+ armor, 4+ cover, 5+ invul, 5+ Feel no pain, Toughness 5, Weaponskill 5 (6 on the warboss while he is in the squad) )
They are hard to kill and hit back hard both at range and even more so in close combat
I myself recommend trukks over battlewagons myself, but a trukk army is complemented very well with a couple of battlewagons (one with 20 Shoota Boyz and one probably with Nobs+Warboss+Big Mek KFF, or maybe even with burnas +Bigmek KFF or even a Meganobz squad) but this means you will not have place for a Biker Nobs squad since you do have a scary deathstar squad in one of the battlewagons.
The battlewagons (if they survive long enough) are a good way to kill AV14 stuff by ramming them with the Deffrolla (1d6 STR10 hits)
You will probably want (atleast I would) Nob with Powerclaw and bosspole in the Trukk squads, but you should probably skip the powerclaw for a Big Choppa in the Shoota Squad or skip the nob entirely (they will probably be doing the dakka and not the charging most of the time, even though they will be near the front lines.
Still a 4 trukks 2 battlewagons with supporting dakka composing of Lootas and Big Guns is a type of a list that is a classic Ork tactic and works great
Also I really recommend the 1man squads of deffkotpas, they do so much in ork armies its insane

Thanks for the advice all sounds good and I have a good idea of what I want to do now.
What do you normally equip the deffkoptas with?

Just the TL Rokkits
They hit more reliably thanks to the TL even though they are BS2, and they shoot with a Str8 AP3 shots (can glance even AV14, and can poke at squads with SM saves or weaker) and are also great to used as a trowaway unit when you need to charge squads that decimate on overwatch (flamer units for example) to take away the overwatch and then charge them with your boyz

Most lists I have seen use 2, they should do the job just fine. But you can do 3 aswell if your list can spare the points.

You need some grots for those zapp guns. Even if they can with some it's probably not enough.

I would just not use zap guns at all, and work to convert them to kannons
