Hi all, I have just downloaded and paid for the quartermaster app on iPad.

Fist impressions are really good. The armies are freely available from the web and they are very easy to edit for adding new units that were not on there such as the Relic contemptor dread and the Achilles Landraider.

Haven't used it for WHFB yet but will be building my Ogres list in a bit.

What are your thoughts?

I use it pretty heavily, but it is mostly useful if you are familiar with your armies.

It doesn't give explanations over special rules or abilities.
Its a way to have lists built as a reference or reminder for what you have and how you configured them.

Yeah I agree you have to know your army well but it is a way of saving time.

I suppose if you researched the web you could use it as a replacement codex for a new army or units, maybe.

Its a handy for a quick glance to see what special rules and kit that they have put when you want to see your opponents list you'd rather get a piece of paper handed to you then an ipad

Oh of course yeah I agree but you can print or email a pdf to yourself from the app to be printed, then hand out the list.

I cannot print it direct yet as I am going to buy an airprint printer next month and then I will be able to.

Was thinking of raising club funds for an airprint capable printer and then we can all use on iPad, create and print lists there and then.

I'd say the club idea is only feasible if you all have ipads and even still I know a lot of players who hate the quartermast system on ipad due to their regular mistakes on points/upgrades although it is more in fantasy then 40k

Not many players bring Ipads that I see.

I also put it on my Ipod, and i find it useful to tinker when I am waiting around on the bus, train or doctor appts.

But there are small errors in points that I found. good for when someone wants to play a quick game at some random points, sicne i built several lists for that reason

I prefer Battlescribe on an Android device/Computer ..(I dont have any apple device ..personal choice I get along with command lines better than GUI's) but the concept is the same ..cheap easy quick reference..and I print it directly to my home printer (Brother network) via WIFI (a,b,g,n).cheap easy solution that I have for reasons other than gaming..but also use for that ..

Anyway its the same concept I like being able to tinker on a list on my phone or tablet ..then print the ones i dont trash ..
