Hey, so. Just issued a challenge with a Daemon Prince against a Blood Angel Terminator squad. Challenged Corbilo, (or whatever his name is 2+FNP save guy).

Opponent refused the challenge, but then took all the wounds on him, as he was at the front. As such, he got a 2+ FNP save on all his saves & made them all. Is this legit?
I’m not sure if as he refused the challenge, he wouldn’t have been allowed to do this. But I can find anywhere that it says he has to move away from the contact, except in the ‘fluff’ bit.

Help?

That sounds off, i challenged a cobrulo my last game with a swarmlord and off'd him. If he had declined the challenge i wouldnt let him take all the wounds. As i recall my opponent told me he can only take ALL the wounds when the unit is being shot at and he is at the very front of it. I don't think it works that way in cc.

First off this probably belongs in YMDC. But as long as we're here:

- you wouldn't move the models into base to base unless he accepted the challenge. If he refuses it, Corbulo stays right where he is.

- assuming Corbulo was already in base to base (along with any other number of models) your opponent gets to choose which model takes wounds, as they're all in base to base with the model that's attacking. Just like shooting, you pick the "closest" model and keep taking wounds on that model until the model is dead. So tanking on Corbulo would be totally acceptable.

Yep, this is legal.
The only thing refusing a challenge results in is the character not being able to attack.
Had he, however, accepted the challenge, he wouldnt have been able to allocate to them.

I believe demon princes are MC's. So you could smash attack and since the 2+ is a fnp i don't think he would get it.

One other thing. You don't issue Challenges to anyone in particular. You just issue a challenge to the enemy units. Your opponent gets to select who accepts, so while you may have intended to challenge Corbulo he could accept with a Veteran Sergeant. If he elects to refuse, then you get to choose who doesn't attack, but as has been pointed out that doesn't change how wounds get allocated.
