What is your opinion on half-level modifiers in DnD I personally find them pointless as it gives a false sense of progression as everything else seems to scale with it.

I guess your right that they don't create real progress, but at the same time they don't stop you from having real progress from other systems, so I guess it's a wash. How well they work depends a lot on the other systems you bring. Gaining a + 1 to lock-pick doesn't mean anything unless you can do something with that +1.
