It is fairly common for larger companies to become engaged in charities or charitable work. It's part of a corporate concept called Social Responsibility intended as a different form of advertisement, essentially painting a human face on whatever organisation is conducting it and thus making the public perceive it in a better light. Since the gaming industry has become more professional over the past one or two decades, this practice can now also be found here.
You can usually "
de-mask" this by how much a company advertises such a policy of engagement on their website or other media. Unfortunately, the most sincere campaigns are the ones you'll never hear about.
Also, now I kinda feel I should put "Atheist" or "Non-Religious" in front of "NGO" when I next mention one...
