well, I plan to start playing infinity, but I really don't know which faction to choose. I like to play aggressively, engaging my opponent in firefights in which they can't move forward because then my shots will even be more effective or he will be chopped up in CC. That way I try to control the battle, forcing the enemy to go where I want to. I first choose Haqqislam because I liked the fluff and now see the ghulams have shotguns as well, which is very useful for my strategy . I then heard about Yu Jing being more effective for that role, but I've only just looked at the Haqq units and what they do, I don't want to start all over again. Can you guys offer me some advice?

Any and all factions can in their own unique way perform all roles, so Haqq is fine as is any faction really.

Yu Jing are better in CC, which doesn't say much because CC in Infinity is as one would expect in a sci fi setting were ranged combat evolved as one would expect and not as an annoying thing you have to do until you get in melee range, so its situational.

Yu Jing is one of the hi-tech factions and has better access to certain equipment like HI, TO and MSVs. Haqq is more low tech but compensates with better and wider Lt. and support options among other things.

Every army can play the way you described it's really just a matter of flavor. For example if Haqqislam wants to infiltrate something close to their opponent to deal damage they could use something like a Fiday which impersonates enemy models and sneaks in. If Yu Jing wanted to do something similar they could use a Dao Fei, a camo HI that specializes in stealth. They're both stealthy infiltrators but have different play styles since the Fiday likes to work up close while the Dao Fei can use it's potential long range to position itself to take advantage of its toughness. Not the best analogy since they're not really equivalent but I hope you get the idea.

I should mention that Yu Jing has motorcycles with a heavy weapon load out; if you're really into aggressive play and like the look they might be up your alley.

This basically describes the general gameplay of Infinity. The whole game is rolling firefights where you try to maneuvre to get better shots on flanks or rears of enemies to avoid F2F rolls, or otherwise do dirty tricks like the aforementioned stealth, Impersonation, hacking, air dropping, etc to break the deadlocks and make advances. So yeah, any faction can play in this way because it's how the game plays.

The flip side of this is this is exactly how your opponent will be playing against you.

Thanks guys. I also saw these tacticas and I love them. Shame they'll eventually move to the bottom of the forum.
