Closest big community that I am aware of is Giga-Bites just north of Atlanta. It is a long drive though for you. Check their forums, there are a few players on there from your area.

Treefort games on the south side of Atlanta suburbs is still a trek from Macon but about half the distance compared to Gigas. Both are great stores though with active communities.

Yeah it looks like if I want to get in to anything 40k related I'll have to drive to Atlanta. The local gaming store here says there are players that occasionally pop in but it's sporadic. I have yet to meet any.

Macon has command zone, and its a nice place, with some really high caliber players. Also, Tallahassee has a couple of gaming stores, but Macon is your best bet.
