So with the new Codex looming over our heads, I've decided to finish painting and get my SM table top ready. Currently playing around with the idea of a drop pod list that takes the center of the table and holds tough. Here's the list in it's current version:

HQ: Librarian

Troops:
10 tactical marines, plasma gun, multi melta
Drop pod

10 tactical marines, plasma gun, multi melta
Drop Pod

10 tactical marines, plasma gun, plasma cannon, combi plasma on Sergeant
Drop Pod

10 tactical marines, flamer, heavy bolter, combi flamer on Sergeant
Drop Pod

Elites:

Ironclad Dreadnought w/ Heavy flamer
Drop Pod with teleport beacon

Fast Attack:

Land Speeder w/ multi melta

Land Speeder w/ multi melta

Land Speeder w/ flamer heavy flamer

Fortification:
Aegis w/ coms relay

I left points out due to uncertainty, it should be a 1500-1750 point list, adding in more Tactical Squads or maybe even a Devastator squad to bump it up. I'd like to add in some Vanguard if points in the new codex really allows it. Game plan is to drop the first 3 pods more or less midefield, and head towards Aegis deployed on my table half to set up cover. Ironclad will drop near something to blow up, or in mid field as well to use the locator beacon. What's everyone think?

if you have 5 pod 3 must enter in the first turn and the other 2 will enter in the second turn, i would still take the 5 pods but keep one tactical squad in the table to man the aegis and to hold your back field . Drop the Ironclad in your opponent back field to keep him busy for a turn or 2 with the dread and use those turns to turbo bust the speeders to do some damage and position the tactical squads in ruins or objectives. I use a similar tactic but with sternguards .

Yeah the plasma cannon squad might as well be back on the relay. Perhaps then drop one tactical (as you can end up with 6 scoring with combat squads anyway) and pop in a small vet squad. Good excuse to field a couple of combi-gravs...

At current points values, but factoring in only 90 points for the new cost librarian, I make this list about 1400 pts, but I could be off. In the new dex, maybe running 4 tacticals at 2000 points would be alright if you use UM chapter tactics, for the tactical doctrine when you pod in, and then, if you also got that dev squad you wanted, get a bit of relentless time on the go... hmmm, promote synergy!

I wanted it to be a mixed bag list, capable of putting the hurt on both Tau, other SM, and IG. I'm a little concerned about assault heavy armies, but I don't see that as a huge problem with 8 squads of marines spread out well.

I was concerned with the heavy weapon choices in each squad. I don't want 1 pod to be all plasma and another all flamers so I mixed it up some to be able to spread pressure evenly. And the Land Speeders allowed me some wiggle room with their load out.

I like the combi grav idea. Will be useful for Riptides.
