A small list i came up with for my new Tau. Any comments? The crisis suits can go after TEQ units or MC's and light tanks. Stealth suits can go bully some unsupported troop units with their burst cannons. Broadsides will take care of any light tanks and possible flyers. Firewarriors can hang back and shoot anything coming their way and the ethereal can hide in them for the bonus shots.

I played a match with a similar army the other day. I used my farsight enclave army (3x 3 crisis suit squads, 1 fw squad, 1 broadside squad, and a crisis commander) against a dark eldar player who used ravagers and raiders with kalabite warriors.

I wasn't really prepared for the match so I had hardly any drones with me for the list - BIG MISTAKE. The lances ate my broadsides and crisis suits instantly (I had a 5+ cover save protecting me, thats it).

My broadsides couldn't touch him because his night shields reduced my range to 30" while he sat back at 36".

Playing a suit heavy list without drones to take hits its crazy - you can't always JSJ out of complete LoS and sometimes you will roll poorly on the JSJ move which will cause you do be exposed for your enemies shooting phase.

I'd drop the stealth team and a single pathfinder, using those points for drones. This will get you 8 drones for your army. Give 2 shield drones to each crisis team and 4 missile drones to the broadside team.

In exchange for 3 stealth suits and 1 pathfinder, you just added 8 wounds to your army (4 of which have a 4++ save). You also lost 3 burst cannons in exchange for 4 missile pods (much better and they can be BS3 if you give 1 broaside a drone controller).

Hmm I was also thinking - what would you do against a landraider, monolith, etc. AV14 is rare at 1000 pts but not unheard off. I usually give each crisis team a shas'vre with target lock and 2x fusion blasters. This allows my team to deal with any threat that may arise - something to consider.
