After seeing the new releases and the rumored rules, I decided that I'm pretty sure I want to run a Drop Pod Alpha Strike list with my Elite Ravenwing riders. Please let me know if this is even possible in a 1850pt list. Thank you

I understand that points arn't out yet but with 40K Radio and most of the rumors all saying the same thing.....do you think this list would work/mesh well together? I'm trying to get a feeling from you all before I go and buy most of the army Any ideas would help!

If you really want to Alpha Strike with Kantor you'll need a 3rd drop pod to bring your two Sternguard ones down on turn 1. That's how I tend to build my lists, with odd numbers and sometimes empty pods.

On the whole, pretty nifty, Kantor and sternguard come down, with the bikes scouting into their face as well as the LSS.

My key concern with bikes is that they get shot up pretty darn good real quick.

Also, I don't see a lot of anti-Tank in the list. The Hunter will handle flyers, but unless there are upgrades not listed I don't see a lot of things to pop transports with,

What is the points level you're aiming for? I got 1570 points, though I'm not sure about the final costs for C:SM stuff atm so if may be off by a bit.

I was going to load up on melta for sternguard. I could also swap out the squad of Black Knights for a Ravenwing Attack Squadron equipped with melta for around the same points. What do you think? BTW, I'm looking at a 1850pt range.

Hmm...that would give you some firepower, and you'd probably have around 200 points left after giving everyone stuff at 1850.

Now, for alternative list building, you could add Sammael in there to make Ravenwing Attack Squadrons troops. The more troops the better, with the scoring sternguard and the scouts you'd have a lot objective holding units, which would help a lot in those kinds of games.

Alternatively, maybe look at Raven Guard allies. Their models get scout, so another LSS would get to outflank or scout if you wanted, as would their bikers.

Alternatively alternatively, White Scars bikers. +1 to jink saves, hit and run, +1 str HoW, auto-pass dangerous terrain. They wouldn't be troops, so you'd have to run another scout squad, but they could be pretty nasty.

The nice thing is, you have some good options in terms of allying in bikers with a Pedro Sternguard list. Whatever you choose will probably play fine, just maybe check all the options and see which you like the most/find the most effective.

Also, if you find yourself with some 200 odd points left over for 1850, Devastators might be a nice addition. IF/CF Devs get Tank Hunters, so you could add some nice firepower to the list.

Well thanks for all the advice. I do know one of those options is out of question. I already own a number of Ravenwing bikers and do not want more bikes! As for the Raven Guard, I thought all scouts have the scout USR there for giving them that rule in the LSS? If I stick with the Crimson Fists then I could also fill a pod with tacticals? Or I could a pod with some of my DA Veterans? I do have some options and that is what I like

That's a good point on the Scout USR, I forgot about that. I think though doing that you would be able to get another LSS ouflanking/scouting.

Of course you're fine sticking with Ravenwing too. If you've got 200 points left, you could fill a pod with tacticals or veterans, or, if you wanted to, you could fit 7 more sternguard in a pod as well. Up to you.

I actually put together a Khan/Pedro list for 1500, though since I don't know the exact points costs for SM bikers (the rumors said 4 points less per model, so I'm assuming 21 per bike, but I don't know if base cost will be 70 or 80. 70 would be in line with C:CSM, so I'm hoping that cost wise), I won't post it just yet. There are a lot of lists I want to finalize, but I just need that final confirmation, haha.

Ok, So have the updated list with points. Again, my objective is to build a list that would hold its own as an 'All Comers List' and I need to fill my AA defense and fill in 186pts. With that said, what would you all add/delete/modify from my current list??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
