Hi guys, I'm relatively new to the great universe of Warhammer 40k and I am thinking starting an Imperial Guard army but more specifically the Catachans. Here is my question, are there any differences between regular Catachans and Cadians? Or are they just different themes? I just thought that Catchans had their own specific statlines and special rules? If someone could explain/correct me on this that would be great!

Ooook, thanks for the quick reply, I remembered a while back that Catachans had their own codex and even regular jungle fighters had a higher WS than Cadian shock troops? Does that still apply currently? Sorry for the newbie questions.

Unfotunately no...Catachans had their own codex around 3rd or 4th (?) edition, but now everyone is lumped under Imperial Guard. Shame too because the Catachans were down right awesome in their own codex....

There are enormous differences in the background lore, but on the tabletop, they're just essentially different color schemes. There are some special units you can take which clearly are either Catachans or Cadians in their appearance, but they can be taken with any Guard army regardless. So, no functional difference.

There is no reason to apologize; because one of the major purposes of this site is to discuss wargaming, both the advanced stuff and the beginner stuff. There is a forum here for background lore and info, and if you have rules questions, you should ask here.

Note that if you have a rules question, you may want to instead go to google.com and search for, without quotes: "can guardsmen twerk site:dakkadakka.com" (or whatever your question is) - this will perform a search on the site. Most rules questions have been asked already, a lot, and you'll probably get an immediate answer instead of waiting for a response.

Its ok. You can still field an entirely special catachan army by taking Sly Marbo! (because hes clearly a HQ and 2 troop choices by himself because the fluff calls him a 1 man army!)**
