So, I just got my 2nd wave minis and built them all over the weekend. Then I realized I never built a single mini from the first wave. I got the box, read the rules, then got too busy with other stuff. So this weekend I did a lot of model building (and a ton of flash scraping and filing). I hate to be a whiner but I feel kinda disappointed with the minis. They look good, the detail is there, but so many pieces were warped. Some of the bigger monster models were especially bad, legs don't match up, body halves don't match up. It's worse than the old metal warjacks. Generally the small figures came out a lot better than the big ones. Was I just unlucky, or are they all like that? At least the men were mostly all OK, but I don't wanna have to greenstuff all the big models :/

big models did suffer from a degree of warping, certainly more then Mike McVey anticipated from the test shots

the guess was this may have been down to the long hot sea voyage acting on the 'hollow' sections but I guess I'll see if this second shipment has suffered as well

but they are really easy to fix

just drop in a cup, pour in boiling water, leave for a few seconds then press them together and they'll fit perfectly

the mould lines (on mine) weren't bad, but I did have to learn a new way of cleaning up by cutting with a sharp blade rather than my normal scraping/fileing but that's down to the material

Yeah, there was some warping, but nothing I couldn't fix. Honestly, I expect some warping on plastic minis that are that material. It just happens. But fortunately all it takes is some hot water.

Agreed with Orlando on the mould lines. Easy clean up. No worries.

Yeah I guess I was expecting it to be more like a plastic kit when it's really more like resin. Do I need to wash the pieces like resin?

I mostly bought into it for the troops anyway, using the men for a high tech themed IG army. I like the bases a lot. I'll probably end up using some of the monsters for some nids counts-as things.

It won't have the really awkward mould release stuff you find on (some) resin so you could probably just paint it

but I'd wash it anyway

(but then I wash polystyrene kits too as I've had some nasty mould release on some eastern European armour and plane kits)

you can also change the poses pretty well with hot water
