I'm just about the get into Infinity and I want to make an army with some unique fluff. So I thought about creating an Akalis army. I know the Akalis Commandos are supposed to be all-Sikh but I was thinking of passing off the Fusiliers as unbaptized followers who choose to cut their hair or, if I am feeling ambitious, I might try my hand at using modelling putty to add detail. At this point I have messed around with the army builder but I have no idea about the actual experience of gameplay. I was hoping you all could advise me of this army's feasibility.

You have a palbot and no doctor or engineer (the only models that can use them). Hackers CAN'T use them (nor can PARAmedics) and they don't have AD so can't be attached to the akalis.

So it won't do much. It doesn't contribute an order and will be disabled when placed on the table anyway (needs its controlling engo or doc on table and at least conscious or it shuts down).

The rest. If you start your akals in AD, you will have 2 (regular) orders on the table and you will be in LoL as well (requires AD: level X to cancel LoL with him dropping in).

Sure, it could be used, but it won't work very well, and without using the AD ability, the points you are paying for the AD troops is wasted. May as well just use fuslilers or order sgts.

My friend apparently has the Gogo Marlene worcor figure that he is willing to give to me since he doesn't like how she looks. Not sure what else to do with the 3 pts.

As for AD. I'm just starting the game and doubt I am going to use the ability in the beginning. I might after expanding the army a bit and changing the LT. Is that a waste of points?

Maybe make one of the fusiliers the Lt.. it would probably be a lot safer. It would also mean that you do not start the game in Loss of Lieutenant. The problem with having that much AD is that they wont provide an order to the pool unless they are on the board. If you are not going to use the AD ability of the Akalis then this wont matter but remember that you will be paying all the points for not much of the potential. In friendly games i really cant see a problem and i guess that is sort of what you seem to be writing this list for... DO NOT take this to a tournament, you will not have any fun at all.

I really like your idea and i am thinking of doing similar with Akalis and Bhag Mari when more Bhag Mari models and Stephen Rao are released. Sort of like a DIY Indian Sectorial.

Warcors have limited use in games that arent campaign games, well appart from being a 3 point irregular model with a WIP 13 flash pulse. The special journalist rule will not have any effect really doesnt mean anything.

Point. If I'm paying for it, might as well learn to use it. I also like the idea of using the Bhag Mari units for an Indian faux-sectoral too. I hadn't thought of the BMs before since I partitioned away in my mind all the Shock Army units as troops with Vietnam War aesthetics. Here is my new list and I would be interested in what you are planning even if it is more Pan-Desi than Sikh.

My understanding is that in Infinity, generally less is more. Because one AD troop can come down and fire as many times as two could, you don't benefit as much from multiple troops with that ability as you would in games without an order pool

That said, dropping a handful of dudes and holing up someplace could be a neat trick

The Naga minelayer is to semi disguise that there is AD troops in reserve and the naga hacker is there because infiltration and camo lets him get pretty close, his WIP 14 is also better than the Akalis. I had 28 points left over so i chucked in a Total Reaction HMG remote to cover a flank or a weak spot.
