If you use buildings that will block LOS, than the drones are much better.
If you use more open and area terrain, the pathfinders would be better because JSJ wouldn't be as big a deal and the pathfinders could just sit in terrain and shoot.
Overall I prefer the drones, but either can function well if deployed right.
From my experience of where im playing there will be quite a bit of
LoS blocking terrain, also drones have better armor than pathfinders, the commander can soak some shots (especially if i give the iridium armor to him instead) and the improved
bs means an almost guaranteed amount of decent hits. the only thing i would say Pathfinders have over the drones is that i could afford 2 or 3 units which can hit multiple targets, all be it inefficiently, for the price of 1 drone commander and drones.
Personally im starting to think I do need some more troops or at least a Devilfish (stupidly expensive points wise and only really use above 2k) to protect the troops I do have but I dont think giving up the Mark'O is the way to save points. He has been crazy efficient in past games and getting markers where i need them as well as being far more maneuverable than Pathfinders.

Thats what the 8 Shield drones are for. I play against a chaos player who likes to spam blast masters a lot which in many respects are more dangerous than an ion
ewo riptide (I personally have had both Riptides wiff it and overheat on interceptor...not fun) so now I always make sure I take shield drones and place them correctly with the iridium battlesuit (usualy with a shield
gen too at 2k points) also at the front to soak any shots.
