Rules are basically a defensive list holding a single objective against an offensive list in one game, an offensive list trying to take a single objective from a defensive list in a second game and final mission being an extraction mission where one of the two lists (of my choice) tries to get to and hold an extraction point against an enemy list which tries to do the same. First two missions use diagonal deployments (defending player places the objective on his half 8"-16" from the halfway line) with the
defender getting to set up his army first yet plays second, last round has players deploy on the parallel far corners of the 72" side and the extraction zone being at the center of the opposite 72" side.
Offensive lists get 4 fast attack slots but only 2 heavy support slots while defensive lists get the opposite. The objective causes deepstrike mishaps within 12" and Heavy Support choices are scoring just like in Big Guns Never Tire. The main objectives are the only objectives, but in case of a tie kill points from across all games are counted for tie breaking. A final mission in which neither player managed to hold the extraction point at game end disqualifies both from taking the title (having lost themselves in the battle and gotten blown up with the planet).
Offensive List:
HQ (2/2) = 575pts
Overlord + Resurrection Orb + Sempiternal Weave + Warscythe + Phase Shifter
Overlord + Resurrection Orb + Sempiternal Weave + Warscythe + Mindshackle Scarabs
2 Harbingers of Destruction + 2 Solar Pulses + Gaze of Flames = 120pts
2 Harbingers of Destruction = 70pts
1 Harbinger of the Storm + Lightning Field = 35pts
TROOPS (3/6) = 505pts
10 Immortals (Tesla Carbines)
10 Immortals (Gauss Blasters)
+Night Scythe
5 Warriors
HEAVY SUPPORT (2/2) = 180pts
2 Annihilation Barges (Gauss Cannons)
FAST ATTACK (1/3) = 240pts
6 Canoptek Wraiths + 3 Whipcoils
TOTAL: 1,500pts
Stormtek and
OL with Scarabs go with the Gauss squad, destructeks go with the other two squads (gaze goes to Tesla Immortals),
OL with Phase Shifter is Warlord and goes with Tesla Immortals. Gauss squad goes for a rapid fire insertion and/or point blank deployment against high
AV vehicles the destructeks can't deal with. Wraiths be Wraiths.
This list also goes to the extraction mission.
Defensive List:
HQ (2/2) = 425pts
Nemesor Zahndrekh
Illuminator Szeras
Harbinger of Destruction
Harbinger of Destruction + Solar Pulse
Harbinger of the Storm + Lightning Field + Ether Crystals
TROOPS (2/6) = 440pts
20 Warriors
5 Warriors
+ Ghost Ark
HEAVY SUPPORT (4/4) = 530pts
2 Annihilation Barges
Doom Scythe
Sentry Pylon + Sepulchral Scarabs
FORTIFICATIONS = 100pts
Aegis Defense Line + Quad Cannon
TOTAL: 1,495pts
ADL around the objective with all forces save the
DS and ABs squeezed inside (objective placed to maximize the area thus protected so as to give the troops room to spread out). Both
ICs go with the big block o' warriors, small warrior squad gets the Orbtek, lone destructek sits in the Ghost Ark. Big blob o' warriors gets Szeras' upgrades (hoping for that 5T, but the other two might come in handy as well depending on the opponent) as well as Stormtek (with the latter placed as far away as possible from the Objective to maximize the "don't deepstrike here" zone). Sentry Pylon placed either in the
ADL within 3 inches of the objective to give it yet another scoring model to hold it or outside it if the terrain gives it the option of being placed someplace beyond reach where it gets a clear view of the battlefield (making use of that 120" range

).
This list is basically meant to camp the objective and be nigh unkillable (and damn hard to get close to) for the duration. Lots of Assault deterrence (19
RF gauss flayers + Defensive grenades + lightning field + Quad gun overwatch + 3 Staff of light shots + the off chance eldrich lance shot + 2/3 chance of either T5 or S5 for the squad) not to mention the ton of firepower a prospective assault unit would eat getting into range of the thing.
One issue would be a lacking ability to split fire due to having over a third of the points of the army stuffed into a single mega-squad (not to mention the frightening prospect of having a bad roll streak ending with the squad getting swept or running off board).
Thoughts?
