So ive only played 2 games and still trying to figure things out but id like some advice on playing against snipers. I learned the hard way that you never let people shoot at you because its suicide. The friend I mostly play against uses a lot of snipers and puts a bit more thought into deployment. I like to deploy covering my units from fire and move from there. I play haqqislam and use the following:

Ghulam lieutenant
ghulam doc
ghulam hacker
Naffatun. LFT
hunzakut sniper
Janissary ap rifle
Lasiq viral rifle
Senor massacre
(I plan to get a remote and sniper lasiq)

Should I kit these out differently or take any special units?
I think one thing that ruined my day was facing the wrong direction and getting backstabbed by a camoflauged unit (later realized I could take an aro and try to discover it)
another problem I ran into was I had a unit fall in the middle of a fire lane and heroically I sent my medic to try to revive him, in vain.

A lot of it is tactics ill figure out eventually but can someone give me things to think over the next time I play? It seems camo is the way to go when completing objectives. Also using Swiss cheese Terrain is a bad idea (we used a lot of trees)

You don't need snipers to combat snipers, just FYI. You're playing Haqqislam, so you have access to Dr Death - the Hassassin Ragik HMG. This badass will airdrop right behind his snipers and mow them down, then give him something serious to distract him - a HMG toting badass in his backline.

Another option is a Hassassin Fiday - they have Impersonation, so you can deploy right in his deployment zone with them in a hidden state that is very hard to get them out of. First turn, casually walk up to one of this snipers and put that boarding shotgun to the side of its head...

Another point I should make - what sort of terrain are you using? Snipers are good, but with good terrain they shouldn't be king gaks of the battlefield. They're mostly good for holding flanks and such. Are you using old 40k terrain full of holes that makes it hard to find hiding spots? Are you using enough spot terrain (little bits like dumpsters you can get cover from)? Are you using much terrain at all? Infinity needs a lot of terrain, both large LOS blocking terrain on multiple levs like buildings and lots of small spot terrain to make movement less of a suicide option.

From experience you need a but-load of terrain. We usually make things like trees (area terrain in 40k) so that you can see into it at -3 to BS, but not through it, this way you get more LoS blocking terrain which is pretty essential in Infinity other wise it just becomes a long range slugging match which is boring.

What Loki has said is pretty much spot on in regards to combating snipers. I would 'tool' my list too much to taking on this sniper guy because if you play someone else, ie a list that wants to get up close and in your face, your list might be totally inadequate. I would also suggest a Sixth Sence L2 model like an Odailque because even if they are attacking here out of camo she will still get to shoot back simultaneously.

Out of interest, what faction does this other friend play?

Yea most of the Terrain were low walls from 40k and woodland bases for lotr/40k. I like the 3- cover into the base, no LOS through rule. I need to build more houses for Terrain. As I'm still new to this I missed the part fiday can deploy on the other board edge (maniacal laugh). I considered the ragik but I think someone said they could scatter or something and all the memories of 40k deep strike mishaps filled my mind.
Ill check out the odailque, ragiks and fidays. Those sound like great strategies. Also everyone seems to take Saladin in their lists. What's so amazing about him?
Thank you for the advice

Yep, if your are too close to an edge and fluff your PH roll for AD3, you could scatter off the edge.

There aren't mishaps as such though. He can still come on, it's just that he will come on EXACTLY where he left the table and it will take another order to do so.

What's so amazing about Saladin?

The Lt order goes into the orders reserve so that ANYone can use it.
You get to hold back two models (from initial deployment) and your opponent doesn't get to hold any back (good to counter stuff, as if you deploy first, you can at least put stuff down AFTER your opponent, but before he does anything.

You need to fail a PH roll to scatter, and if you do it's based on how much you fail by. With the Ragik's high PH, odds are he'll land where you want, or close to it.

Yes, ordinarily, they should land safely.
Now, whether they land somewhere that your opponent isn't looking is a different matter. AD-ing into LoF is a bad thing and is often prefaced with the comment "Pull" by your opponent.
(Coming in by AD is a long skill, and they can do nothing else with that order. Enemy with LoF can shoot freely at them.)

Landing safely also depends on your opponent not hacking your dropship (which does bad things to your PH roll if they succeed. ALL AD troops bail out where that opponent chooses and then make PH-9 rolls, dispersing as normal for failure.) - not that it's likely to happen, but one doesn't speak of likelihoods in Infinity, only possibilities.

I agree with what the others said - Fiday and Ragik are your answer to snipers usually, not a Sniper of your own. It is easier to kill a sniper with those two than with a Sniper Lasiq, that's for sure.

Also, I suggest watching this video:

http://www.beastsofwar.com/infinity/setting-infinity-gaming-table/

with regards to terrain placement. Using Carlos' guidelines makes for a balanced table that helpe the overall pace of the game.
