So I got a 1500pt tourny I might try to attend in mid october. Some interesting rules are that they dont want spammy lists. This hurts guard but whatever. Also unless its troops everything is 0-2 for their slots, so that means like heavy support I only get 0-2 slots, I can still use squadrons.

Mech Guard

CCS
x4 plasma guns
plasma pistol
Chimera

Vet squad
x3 plasma guns

LR Vanq
PC/LC
Pask

So the 2 flamer/demo vets will ride in the vendettas, I will turn the list in and see if they are fine with me running plasma but that wont be until next week so Im just going with the fact that I can, If anything maybe I will turn a squad into melta vets. I originally had 2 vanqs the same but then figured having the vets in the vendettas was a better choice I dropped one vanq for the vets and took a standard LRBT. I figured I could use the ap3 and if hordes come my way I have a chance to take chunks out of them and the large blast will threaten my opponents move out of cover.

The games will be on a 4x4 and I honestly am unaware of what other players to see there. I do expect to see the new marines. I feel like a pod list will hurt me greatly if they bring meltas and they would be able to fry some key tanks.

So whats the input?

4x4 at 1500pts is a bit tight, and reduces the advantage of your mobility, and means your vendettas will have issues getting firing lanes without hovering.

I'm not a fan of plasma pistols all round. They are quite expensive for what they do, and there's always the chance of losing the sergeant which is irritating. I feel the points can be better used elsewhere.

I would think that meltas on at least one of the vendetta squads would be good, as you have a decent amount of firepower to kill hordes anyway, and meltas are always useful. (and on a 4x4 there's less space to hide from them). I like the demolitions though, that large blast is excellent.

Marbo is awesome, so cheap for what he does. I never run guard without him.

Vendettas are good, just be prepared to hover them at some point, as I said above.

I like the standard LRBT, others think it is too expensive. I find it useful to kill marines, and other 3+ troops, or to ID T4 models.

I'm not convinced about the vanquisher. Plasma cannon in particular look out of place on a clear anti-tank vehicle. Pask does make it better (especially when stationary), but comes at a price. If it has been working for you, and if you think there'll be a lot of tanks, then it will prove useful.

All in all I think it's a pretty decent list, and should do well.

Hope this is useful.

yea 4x4 is a bit small but thats the tourneys rules and thats what they want, thanks for the reply!

the reason the flamer vets are in the vendetta is because if I drop guys with meltas near an objective none of those weapons ignore cover and a simple scout or cultist squad would go to ground under weight of fire and probably live and with the vendetta flying on turn 2 moving and shooting turn 3 and then possibly dropping the guys off turn 4 that means I maybe have 1 turn to clear the objective with vets. The shear amount of wounds the flamers and lasguns will do will really hurt my opponents units as well as the demo charge on top of that.

marbo is also to help with the 2+ save units and to possibly get an easy line breaker point or maybe kick a cheap scoring unit off an objective if hes in the area.

The vanq actually does well. It destroys vehicles from a distance with the vanq cannon and lascannon and if its a transport also has the plasma blasts to boot 2+ save units and effectively do more wounds to a horde list. a standard vanq with lascannon attached and pask wound only put out 2 wounds at most with just the 2 weapons but the plasma sponsons really allow the tank to put out a good amount of ap2 shots at s7-9 and if pask doesnt move and fires at armor that all jumps up one strength making it easier to hit the heavy av 13-14 armor. It really is a great tank and I do suggest using it. Without pask it can be hit or miss with bs3 but it usually pulls its weight.

Thanks again for the replies, oh and what would you suggest using for points rather than the plasma pistols because if you take them off you only have 30pts.

Well for me some of it would have gone into meltas.

Grabbing HB on the vendettas is never a bad option, as it gives them some flexibility if opponents have no prime targets.

Apart from that, you're right, there really isn't anything else worthwhile to spend those points on given how your list has worked out, so it's a bit of a choice thing really.

And i figured as i will only have 2 chimeras of vets and a ccs in a chimera and 2 russes on the board i would be better off with having lots of high strength plasma shots to rapid fire with.

I feel like marine pod lists will tear my army apart to be honest.
