So I have two questions:

1. How should I base my Cygnar army? (theme: such as grass, ruins, streets, desert, etc...)

2. What is the easiest way to base them in said theme?

Thanks

The trench work bases from Secret Weapons Miniatures IMHO just scream Cygnar.

Cygnar is a fairly verdandt land with multiple large industrial cities.

So grass bases would fit. Or cobblestone roads.

Or you could base them elsewhere. The Protectorate is a mix of arid grasslands and desert. Khador is grasslands mixed with snowey patches.

Edited..and it is nice to see that when someone on these forums asks for advice the members would rather make fun of them and point out spelling errors instead of helping.

Its a joke bud. Sorry if my post didnt help. Im used to Honda-tech.com which is full of A-holes. Your question is on the same lever as "what intake should i buy?", Or "what color should i paint my car". Its all up to you, your models. Now if you where looking to base them according to there landscape you should have mentioned that.

Then you should have asked specifically that, especially when your last visit to these forums included about 5 of the threads that SheSpits was describing. You have to understand why people would assume you were doing that again, right?

And I'd agree with dare, Cygnar armies look good with Trench bases, even more so if you have Trenchers!

Here is an example of a trench base from SWM that I did up for the Galleon I am working on. It would look great with a Stormwall as well.

I went with a ruined urban look. At first it was because it was similar to some of my terrain at the time. But I am slowly working into the current Point Bourne situation. The background I have been developing for my Cygnar army is that it is a detachment that participated in the Point Bourne fighting against Khador and then Cryx.

My Cryx terrain are woodland to reflect the Thornwood Army.

But ultimately I choose my bases based on what I think will look good. I also have a table of my own at home with multiple sets of terrain so I like to have the bases match one of the sets of terrain that I have.

You may have not liked the responses, but the ones that say do what you think is cool are correct. If that was not the response you were looking for perhaps it'd be better to think about and reword your question. Perhaps asking people to give examples of their bases to inspire you. Or simply look around the internets at the huge variety of models and bases and see what strikes your fancy. At any rate, more often than not the quality of the question helps determine the quality of the answers you get.

When people come here and ask a question for advice...not a scientific question...but advice on a theme or look, they are not looking for someone to say..."Well, google it."

Maybe the miniature gaming community is the friendliest place on the internet. So I guess I can just stick to asking people at my local store instead of trying to get advice or help from the larger world community. At least they give their opinion instead of Google it. My phone can give me that answer and its a machine.

And thanks to those who actually did give their opinions. It has helped me make my own opinion on what I will do.

I dont mean to be cheeky here Joker, but when the best answer to "how should i base my models" is "however you like, really", then 'google it' is a valid answer.

Really Joker, we can't tell you how to paint your models, or how to base them. its your army. that kind of stuff really is up to you. i cant, and shouldnt be the one to do this for you. Cold hard answers to things like this are really hard to give since there is no right, or wrong way to go about basing a model. city street? rubble? ship decking? forest? grass? sand? snow? ice? sea? lava? rock? pile 'o' bodies? See what i mean? its not a fair question to ask because there really is no answer to give.

And how will asking people in real life be any different? Its the same situation - realistically, 'how' can they go about answering it? By showing you their models? kind of the real life equivelant of 'googling it' if you ask me.

Just because you didnt like some people's opinions doesnt make them less valid. you didnt like being told to 'google it'? well, tough. but its as fair and as valid an answer as 'here is how i did mine', because ultimately - its your choice. How you do things really is up to you.

Im not going to tell you how to paint or base your army, because really, it shouldnt be up to me to tell you how to paint or base your army. the key is here - its 'your' army. your choice, your call. Be assertive and empowered in your choice. you dont need others to decide for you.

I think I can google things without posting here for help first...since that is the advice I received. I will just PM those who are helpful.

PS - To the person who offered the idea of the pre-made trench bases...I got those. I agree. They will look great.

Or you can put more thought into your questions. Consider 'What bases do I use' and 'I'm a fan of the fighting in Sul, what bases do I use'. Which one is much more likely to get a result? Hell it doesn't even need to be referencing something in universe, you can just say 'what do you think of tundra-y bases on Cygnar'

check out Iron Halo too. A little cheaper for base inserts. Initial impression of the Brickwork bases is positive. The Deus Ex Machina not so good. The casting method they use doesn't fill the fine gear teeth very well.

I think this sum's it up. Would have looked better on your end to have picked a few that you found and ask for advice. You are basicaly asking people to feed you ideas and links.

I gave a response...but you will have to google it...after all, you should form your own opinion of what people are asking for or saying...it is your mind.

Do not share opinions and help people make up their minds with your advice and your opinions...oh no...google it.

I do love how you underline one word in the quote and fail to READ the whole thing.

Reading...try it.

Based off what people feel they think is cool right or else they wouldnt have done it. So you did nothing at all on your end to find something that tickled your fancey. You sat like a frog on a log and asked me.

Whats a cool base for Cygnar.

No ideas of your own

No links to any ideas of your own

Nothing expressed about what you thought it was

And this isnt the first time you have done something like this.

And GOOGLE TRY IT...........................

1. For such a vague question..it appears that 2 or 3 people had the ability to give advice about what opinions they had. Now either the question is not vague or they are smarter than you.

2. Next time you are going to give advice that is just google it...please don't comment. This thread would have been much better if it was 1. My question. 2. A couple people giving advice. 3. Me saying thank you.

3. Now you can have the last word about how google this and vague that....you are a waste of time.

4. Can I block you somehow? Maybe that question direct enough and not vague? Got advice for that? or just google it?

This thread is hilarious. It should be preserved forever as a perfect example of a storm in a teacup.

OP: Look at what you wrote in your OP. It could not be more vague if it tried. You give ZERO indication to how any of your other models (if any) are based, if you have a board at home, so all your bases follow a common theme (like mine), what boards you play on at your FLGS for example. We have nothing to go on, then you lose your gak when people call you out on the fact a vague statement is something you can just Google. Compare your OP to the one in the VERY FIRST RESULT on Google. See how they are dramatically different in their question. The OP throws out a few ideas to get the ball rolling on how one can base their army based on their preferences.

There the annoying people who don't give any good advice are gone. Those that gave good advice, thank you. You have helped me make a decision.

Those that give bad advice...go google why you are being ignored...if that is too vague....you give bad advice and it is not needed....ever.
