Subject: Skirmish game for 28mm Empire Free company?

I am interested in finding a good rules set that I could use empire free company GW models for. Ideally Im looking for:
-A game that would use 5-20 models a side in a skirmish style game
-that would cover a variety of the weapons represented in the Empire Free company box
-would be easy to teach a few people to play, so we could have some pickup games at the lgs.
any ideas or info would be great, otherwise I'm going to be stuck brainstorming my own rules. Im not sure if mordheim would shine just using the human militia or not.

Suprisingly, I think that the Empire Free Company sprues were first released in Mordheim (even in the base game).. as a way to create a Human warband in there.
Only later did they get their own box set for fantasy

Is there anyone with experience with coreheim and mordheim? I've never played either and don't know which would be the way to go.

Mordheim is amazing fun. Coreheim is ok for a more balanced rule-set but it feels a lot more sterilised.
You don't play mordheim for its balance, you play it because its amazingly fun and anything can happen

Yep.
There are a few supplements floating around too. The Empire in Flames is good for some out in the countryside adventures, There are Lustria and Khemri themed variations too.

Mordheim is a given.. but lately i've been going more in the way of simply using universal rules sets that allow you to use any figures. Now I'm enjoying the hobby a lot more because I only buy models I actually like rather than buying them specifically because GW gave em good stats.
The systems I've been dabbling in are: Ares, Song of Blades and Heroes, and Skulldred.
SOBH is definitely the simplest and probably quickest to play. Don't let the initial stats (or lack of) fool you. Yes, everything is determined with just 2 stats (combat and quality) but the rules and the section for special rules for the models allow for a lot of variations and can pretty much represent anything.
Ares is probably the most in-depth of the 3 games. It makes you bring out all your RPG die rather than just focusing on D6s. A lot of cool elements such as borrowing actions (think of overwatch and reactions), using multiple actions for more effective attacks and parrying, and the ability to do things such as prone/defensive advance etc to combat gunlines.
Skulldred is the one I've been getting into the most lately. Its a great medium. Not as complex as Ares, but not as simple as SOBH. It shares the same finesse and quick gaming elements of SOBH but also has way more stats. Also, its set up so you don't have to do any math. All bonuses/penalties are done by simply putting more dice in either your or opponent's hands and you just count the successes.
The reason why I stopped playing Mordheim is because I felt it was still bogged down by GW's over-convoluted system. It was great when I was in highschool and had all the time in the world to play super detailed games.. but nowadays I need something that can simply be finished in an hour or so.
