Just my 0.02 cents the charger and lancer go down pretty ez to almost everything.

Never used old Rowdy (yet)

Id use EStryker so you only pay 4 points for Rowdy, Plus he can bond with him.

Im still pretty new to the game, so might not be the best advice.

If your basic idea is to go jack-heavy with the starter box stuff, there's better support then the field mechaniks.

A journeyman warcaster to run the charger/cyclone, or Arlan to repair and powerboost, will give you more mileage out of your jacks then the mechaniks will (and are more useful in more lists as you build your army).

Definitely keep the Lancer. With his shield, ability to knock out cortexes, and potentially arcane shield, it's actually pretty durable (...as far as things in this game go), plus you really want the arc node with pStryker, because casting Earthquake through an arcnode is like the first WTFPWNEDAWESOME moment you'll have as a Cygnar player.

I think I'll try using both a journyman and the mechaniks to see which choice is better.

You'll probably eventually use both together at some point.

The problem with repair rolls at low point values is that most of the time when something gets hit in warmachine its going to die. This is more likely the lower the point total. So its a higher chance of the Mechaniks ending up with nothing to do because everything is either full health or dead.

While the Journyman will always be useful because Arcane Shield can be applied before you get hit.

Of course they synergize because Arcane Shield makes you more likely to survive an attack, thus giving the Mechaniks something worthwhile to fix.
