Okay got my copy of "FATE OF A NATION" -

Going to run this list - JORDIAN FORCE

1 x Centurion HQ (2 vehicles)
1 x Centurion Platoon (3 vehicles)
1 x Centurion Platoon (3 vehicles)
1 x Mech Platoon (3 Squads)
1 x 25 pdr Artillery ( 3 Gun Battery)

985pts .... We are playing 1000pts.

My question to you guys...Is where do I get 25 pounders with the Muzzle Break in 15mm? I can see pictures in WI but what boxed sets have the Muzzle break in?

This one?

I think the LW 25 pounders had them, but which boxed set do I need to grab?

Not trying to be flippant, but the expensive one

It's the one with resin bases, costs about 48% as much as the other sets.

The Late War 25 pounder has the muzzle break, early war does not.

Sadly budget is an issue for me, so I got the 8 early war ones. For the sake of such a small detail, I didn't want to cough up twice as much.

The pic you link looks right to me,
http://www.waylandgames.co.uk/flames-of-war/british/artillery/25pdr-battery/prod_3951.html

Late war gun = muzzle break. Early war has none.

Will it be necessary to replace the crew the gun may be available on special order.

Do you think 1,000 points is playable? People are talking about fielding 40 T34/85s (for 800 points) but even buying PSC that's a £120 or so investment (£300 at BF prices).

For as disappointed as I was with the Vietnam rules I think they (battlefront) have hit the head on the nail with this rules set. It is this kind of conventional battles they should be concentrating on.

I too am looking at Jordanians only using M48's.

@george Spigott - We were on edge for the 1000pts but having explored it, I've got 2 Israeli players so we are buying the tanks from QRF rather than BF. So it's not too bad, but I think BF might have sunk themselves with the pts for Egyptians.

I cannot see why anyone except those with money to burn would be go Egyptian. They are ridiculously cheap in terms of points...Even 10 x T54 or T54's are 445pts!!!

You could go ultra cheap and have just two small platoons of tanks - THE ARTILLERY IS RIDICULOUS - 18 x 152mm D-1 = 340pts, so you won't save you still need to buy alot of stuff.

The egyptian list could do with a 1/3 pts increase and dropping the Hen and Chicks!

Jordanians are the forces I'm looking at too. But I'm waiting to see what everyone around my area picks up first. I'm also looking at a Israeli M51 company.

As for points I think until the lists expanded with a future book (here's hoping!) 1000pts to 1250pts seems to be right. I would also think this will lead to a nice game of maneuver on a 6 by 4.

My only question with your list is are the infantry worth it? I fear with all the Top armour 2 bar the Israeli armoured infantry all the foot sloggers will just get run over.

I agree, the Egyptians probably shouldn't have H&C, Jordanians definitely should not have Hen and Chicks! They where a well trained force, and I think hen and chicks kills the army. Still I love the camo and the mix of US tanks and British Uniforms so I will probably end up doing them.

I didn't want the Infantry for anything other than fluffiness (Partly to make up the points because I wanted to have artillery).

I normally put my artillery somewhere and screen them with Dug in Infantry. So Ideally dug in around an objective, with the Artillery just behind.

I think a pure tank force would be an bit.....one dimensional? I could arguably just buy another platoon of Centurions and call it the "10th Independent Tank Regiment.".

I want to keep them generic so if they do 1973 - I can just call them the "40th Armoured Brigade" they had Centurions from 1970 and were the premier armoured formation - back in 67 the "40th" had M48's.

Being in the USA I can order the Old Glory Command Decision T-55s. They cost less than $5 each and pretty nice models. Great thing about the Egyptians is they're easy to paint. I already have 21 T-55s painted up.

I also bought the OG CD PT-76s and BTR-50s. Those are nice models too.

Because of the savings I splurged for the Battle Front Vietnam ZSU-57-2 which are very nice models.

This is so true. We don't know what Syrians will be like yet, they should be similar equipment but will fewer harsh rules.

Will artillery really be the way to go with Egyptians? Napalm will make a horrible mess of them and you only get two AAA teams in the whole army.

I'm so insanely excited with this mini-sourcebook, I've wanted a good excuse to collect an IDF force for a while now.

Do we have any sort of release schedule for the BattleFront models yet? I can see on the Flames of War website they've released the Magach & M51 ISherman boxes, along with Israeli decals.... but is there any sort of timeline for the rest of the releases yet?

I thought H&C didn't have to do with the training of the force, but more so that the T34 had incredibly poor visibility and communications. That's why the heavy tank regiments don't have it while the T34 units do, despite being the same training level.

I could be wrong though, but that was just my take on it

@Col Kenny - I know they do but it's a straight barrel, it doesn't have a muzzle brake, But the late War and the ones that the Jordanians have a Muzzle Brake.

Like so...

But I believe the Blister is like this?
