So, I'm planning to make another attempt at getting my friends intrested in Infinity and I was curious of what the needed items are? Does the Infinity 2nd Edition Rulebook contain the rules for the models aswell? Or do you get the rules for the models together with the models like in Warmachine/Hordes? Also do you need some kind of templates or anything?

Greetings

All the rules are free on Corvus Beli site:
http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/downloads/

http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/downloads/rules/%5Ben%5DRules.pdf

http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/downloads/rules/%5Ben%5DRulesHS.pdf

The Rulebooks include rules, rules for some of the models and background.

If there is no experienced Infinity player to show you how the game works I recommend starting with Quick start rules and slowly working your way to full rules.

Infinity wiki is a great place to check for a specific rule.

YouTube channel for Infinity, I recommend seeing some of the older entires where they explain how to play the game.

Army Builder. There's an army builder on the official site, but myself prefer the following one:

Or do you get the rules for the models together with the models like in Warmachine/Hordes? Also do you need some kind of templates or anything?

Rules are not included. Yes, you'll need quite a lot of templates and markers. You can make your own (under download section) or purchase them from the store.

Every rule and army unit profile are 100% free on the Infinity: The Game offical site. The book you get becouse you want the fluff and great art, or you just want to show CB your support.

What you do need (other then the great models), is 5+ 20D, the templetes printed off the web site (if the circle templete is the same size as a CD, your good), and lots of marker (I use a Warmachine set, with a expo pen), and some thing to count orders with (for this I use glass counter, from the dollor store). That should cover most everything, except a ruler of course.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

The 2nd ed rules has most of what you'll need to play the game. There are some additional rules in the Human Sphere and Campaign Paradiso books but they can also be downloaded from the Infinity website. Army lists are also in the downloads section so there are no cards for the models etc. And templates/ markers/ tokens can also be downloaded from the website and printed. Basically everything you need to play the game is free except the models.

Unfortunately downloaded rules dont help me at all. We play in a club down town, But none of us have printers or laptops or ipads so we have absolutely no use of online or downloaded rules. Unless we sit down with pen and paper and write it all down by hand and that takes way too long. Thus books are better. (And the only way we could possibly have the rules when playing)

I did look in the webshop I normaly use and they have Infinity 2nd Edition Rulebook, Infinity - Campaign: Paradiso and THE HUMAN SPHERE - Expansion Rulebook. They also have a section called Designed for Infinity that has a bit of terrain, artifacts and consoles, Aswell as loads of tokens and 3 templates, Looks like a narrow flamer, a wide flamer and a large blast (comparing them to the warhammer 40k templates)

You don't have a Kinko are something like that in town?

Whats a Kinko? This is a small town in Sweden, No internet caffes or anything such. Such things are rare over here since everyone has internet at home. No place to print things unless you own a printer.

Kinko's a print and copy shop, UPS store do it too, just add flash drive. But, if there really nothing like that were you live, buy the books the fluff and art are so worth it anyways. Your going to need the FAQ on thev wiki, so if you really have no way to use the internet were you game you may need to write them down

Knight gave some brilliant advice at the start there. Bravo to him. Once I update the beginner thread it should look like that, well done dude.

As for printing off the rules. I live in a small town in Scotland but our local library has a printer, PCs and the internet, you might have a similar set up? That said, the price per page is ridiculous, it might be cheaper to buy the books. Myself? I bought the books before I even committed to the game, they are really lovely to have whether you play or not. If you are on a budget definitely find a way to print. A quick and friendly call to a local business might get you access to a printer one night, for a few bucks in someone's pocket. You might also be able to borrow a printer or get one cheap on ebay. It just has to last long enough to get through those prints, if you pay 5buck on ebay and it falls apart when you are finished then you've still saved money. Also try freecycle or whatever that websites called, you might get lucky.

Good luck and enjoy the game!

Oh or a school! If you know a teacher in a local school they'll almost definitely let you use a PC one night before they go home. Just make sure you are up front about the amount of printing you need to do.
