At our gaming club we play that you can have 1% of the points over the limit. So thats why it is 1,506
So um, with the strategy, i have the squad of 10 fire warriors (without the devilfish) to either come on as a reserve or follow the riptide. I keep them within 6" so that they can fire overwatch if he gets assaulted. With that, I fully equip the riptide to survive nearly anything and I make him the target. I put him so that people will shoot at him. I think of it as that he pretty much has 7 wounds (including the drones). He can handle it! In all 3 games he hasnt died and he was the main thing that the enemies shoot at. I take just as many wounds on him with the nova reactor as what the enemy does.
The commander goes with the crisis battlesuit squad and doesnt shoot, so that they all get re-rolls.
With the broadsides, unless I have a great spot in my deployment zone to sit in cover, I normally take them as two seperate squads. I think that 2 will be killed as quickly as 1, so having them seperated will slow the enemy down. I use these to just target whatever I need to kill. Could be tanks or infantry and sometimes toughness 4 independent characters so that they can be instantly killed.
The pathfinders do what they do best (markerlight). I normally keep them at the back, in my deployment zone, in cover so that they dont really get targeted (unless from reserves) and they are sometimes forgotten about.
The razorshark just targets whatever i need to kill. Sometimes its tanks and other times, infantry.
My 3 battles that I have played, I have versed chaos space marine, dark angles, and space marines. So with these armies that I have versed, there are a fair few guys with 2+ armour saves. Thats where it is good for the crisis suits, riptide, broadsides, and even the rail rifles in the pathfinders squads take out a couple sometimes. I dont really have a problem when the enemy brings flyers either (which was in 2 games) because i have my flyer and the riptide to kill them. Also, in the case of the stormraven gunship i versed that hovered, the broadsides killed it.
Overall, I think that this is a good army for anyone that you are versing, and it is alot of fun with the riptide, battlesuits and the flyer.
Any comments on things that you would suggest, or that you do with your army, or that you have versed that was really good, would be great, thanks.
